How about Gwen @ My Home Vintage? Nice lady and decent prices. Or Joanne's Vintage?

I am now deciding to buy more Dumex stuff or not BUT if I don't control myself, I'll run out of display place at our new place (though Only getting our keys tomorrow LOL). So I can only buy extremely rare / beautiful / irresistible pieces now!

having stayed in for more than a month, i can say the house is more than 90% completed.

unfortunately didn't manage to enjoy it fully due to the flu epidemic - i was hit really badly by it & was sick for a month. to date i'm still plagued with the cough.

anyway, i've put in some additions to the house (sorry for all the badly taken photos - been using cam phone..too lazy la):

my dining table complete with the kopitiam chairs

my digital peephole

and finally my last bit of carpentry - was contemplating for the longest time so finally decided to build in one instead. love it!

Oh dear, sick for a month? Hope you manage to get some time off work to really rest. The whole house renovation & moving must have taken a toll on your health!

You are very neat - can tell from your new shelf ;)

New house so new motivation to be neat :)

Reno progress soooo slow. It doesn't help that we are using tiles of different dimensions & designs in each room so it complicates the process.

decided to do some baking so that my oven will not become a white elephant.

my first attempt at doing muffins (in fact i'm still very new to baking).

did banana muffins with raisins. they look fine & i invited a friend over to try them. i passed a few to my neighbour.

verdict: GOOD for a first timer! yay! success!

Happy New Year to One & All! Hope you all had a great celebration.

CNY is actually one of the most boring festive periods for me as I don't celebrate it & most shops are closed. Sigh.

With nothing much to do, I thought of updating my thread with some info which I hope may be useful to the other home owners.

I'll touch on tiles selection only for the first part. Because I spent almost 3 months to select my tiles. I went to different tile shops & I went to them not once but at least 3 times. Not that i'm indecisive but because the choices were aplenty & i needed to rely on my design instinct to select the right tiles for my house. being a 3rd time home owner who had previously engaged IDs for my past 2 homes, I realised I missed out alot of details the last time. i relied heavily on the IDs for tile selection & advice. As I've chosen to engage a contractor this time, main reason for cost savings, I do realise I need to invest heavily in time to do my research.

So I embarked on a journey on my own, together with a few of my friends, to go shopping for tiles.

I first started off with going only to the big names eg Soon Bee Huat, Hafary & all the other tile shops along Balestier. The tile selection was massive & enough to confuse me. So i had to make about 3 - 4 trips to the shops to look through the selection over & over again.

After reading up on the other threads, I realised I could have missed out other tile shops that were worth visiting. But alas I was too tired. But i made an effort to go to this other tile shop called Unlimited. Their display of tiles of course, pales in comparison to the tile shops in Balestier. It was kinda disorganised & messy, if i were to describe it. It made one feel lost as to how to even start searching for any tiles.

BUT, i realised their variety of tiles is in no way, inferior to those tile shops in Balestier. In fact, their prices are way more competitive. One classic example would be the honeycomb tiles. A tile shop in Balestier is selling it at $8.50 per pc but at Unlimited, it's only $5 PSF.

Well, this is just to share my brief experience in shopping for tiles. And now to share some photos of the tiles I've seen from the various tile shops. Enjoy!
