dragonnite 2 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 I was doing research into which I should opt for and I see that many people in the forum also have the same questions as I do. I thought the following articles were pretty useful and hopefully, they're useful to you too. Some of them are very US centric but the principles are the same. Note that all the tankless units they're referring to are large units meant to supply hot water to the entire house, compared to the small shower units we see here.http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/waterheaters.htmlhttp://www.consumerenergycenter.org/home/appliances/waterheaters.htmlPDF from energystar.govDoing a search on SP Services website returns this :Q: Which type of water heater is more energy efficient? Instantaneous water heater is more energy efficient as water is only heated when needed. Storage water heater uses more energy as it needs to heat the large volume of water stored in the tank regularly so as to keep the temperature at a desired level. My final conclusion is that since I only need hot water for showering and there aren't that many people in the house, I will be going for an instant water heater. dragonnite 2 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 heh...i'm one of those who like lukewarm, and sometimes use cold water so it's ok for me i think for people who need hot water also to be used in the kitchen, the storage tank option is the best.

dragonnite 2 Report post Posted August 9, 2012 for 2 pax, 5 rm unit, storage heater appropriate?Actually, it depends on ur preference and usage since there are only 2 of u. Pick storage heater :- If u like really hot water to shower- If you want hot water to also be supplied to other areas, e.g. bathroom washbasin, kitchen etcPick instant :- If you're ok with not-so-hot water for showering- Only require it for showering and nothing elseFrankly, both the voltage in terms of watts is about the same (around 33watts, if i dun remember wrongly). However, storage heater need some time to heat up the water which the instant one doesn't. You can argue til the cows come home about the electricity consumption - I dunno enough to compare.Bear in mind if you go with storage, you will need to buy mixer taps for whichever areas you want the hot water to flow to. Otherwise, you can just opt for a basic tap so from a cost perspective, there is a certain difference there too.
