Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise when can I apply for a private property as currently I am owning a 1 year old HDB New flat.

Do I have to wait till 5 years or concurrently I can apply for Private as TOP takes about 3years to complete?

you can buy your private anytime as long as you have the money. no need to apply for anything.

But you cannot sell your hdb until the MOP of 5 years.

May_dream1, I think your message is mis-leading.

To TS,

You only can buy private property after your MOP complete. Regardless the TOP is 4-5 yrs later

Sorry, didn't realized the rule changed on 20 aug 2011. And I only looked at resale. New flats cannot buy no matter what till after MOP

Wait til you have lived in your new flat 5yrs before you invest in private residential property. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10321p.nsf/w/BuyingNewFlatConditionsAfterPurchase?OpenDocument

Ownership / Interest in Property

You cannot invest in private residential property during the 5-year occupation period.
