Think the storage books are really cool and nice! :D

Below is the picture of what were stored inside, all different books will put different things which required easier to access to.

Got some issue with the entrance ... We thought of wearing or changing the shoes sitting on the settee, but there is a distance between the settee and door entrance. Husband said need to put another floor mat which I think it will look ugly to have 2 floor mats. Or buying a long floor mat from entrance to settee, it will look ugly to me too ...

Any ideas to share?

Nice settee! Where did you buy it from?

The space here looks abit tight..hmm... If you put a long door mat, can the door close? I may put a small mat at the door, then a longish mat parallel to and underneath the settee, just extend a bit out to enable you to wear your shoes.

Hmmm you might want to consider find some nice design mats (like flower or leaf shaped floor mat)...can help to partly "decorate" the flooring as well...so that it wouldn't look weird with 2 floor mats...

Hi Eekenji, your house is so pretty. You must have put in a lot of effort to renovate your house. I like your Scandinavian style design and all the little decoration.

Is it possible to PM me contacts of carpenter Ah Tong and contractor Ah Huat? Also,if possible can you share with me the reno price and carpentry prices.

Tks so much.

Best regards,

Cuskel

Hi eekenji,

Beautiful home you have there. Love your attention to little details and whimsical photos. Your t-blog is a good read.

Btw, I noticed that you installed black and white blinds at your balcony. Do you mind sharing the shop that you bought it from and price you paid?

Thanks!

Where is your shoe cabinet?

I think your options are limited because of the door. There's always going to be some space which you can't put anything as it'll block the door. In fact, I think the settee is probably the closest you'll be able to position anything permanently.

Floor mat may not fit under the door so that may not be an issue.

One other idea is to have a small stool which you can slide out from under the settee. When you're done you can then kick it back in. It may a bit low. Should be OK for guys but for ladies, might be a bit inconvenient.

Or you could put felt underneath the white chair and drag it over when you want to wear your shoes, and push it back when you're done. Or replace that chair with something with rollers.

Perhaps the best solution is to leave everything as it, have a good front door mat, make sure everyone wipes their shoes before they step into the house, and and mop that area everyday :P

bleucheeze, the settee was bought from King and King Wang .. cost one hundreds plus.

You are right, the door cannot be close if put a long door mat. So we planned to change the door as my husband didn't like the current door, he said it was the original door and might be used for quite long time already. Currently we put a long mat parallel to and underneath the settee but it was not long enough to the door entrance .. so guess we need to change to longer floor map and change the wood door.

Hmmm you might want to consider find some nice design mats (like flower or leaf shaped floor mat)...can help to partly "decorate" the flooring as well...so that it wouldn't look weird with 2 floor mats...

crypaz, agreed with you ... Wonder where to find a long floor mat, those selling at Ikea one was not long enough. Might need to diy a floor mat .. hmm.

benauhc, thanks for your comments ~

The black and white blinds at my balcony was from previous owner, so we also not sure where they bought them .. We have one similar in our playroom and we got it customized from JB curtain shop called Middle Curtain. Total price of our curtains in balcony and master bedroom and timber blind in playroom was RM2.6k.

ultimax, thanks for your comments ...

our shoe cabinet was just opposite to the entrance main door, i.e. just beside the settee.

You are right with the floor mat, it cannot fit under the door. Husband wanted to change the main door, he didn't like the existing white main door. We will go down to one of the door showroom this weekend and hopefully can find the door we like.

As for temporary solution, was to take out the shoes before enter the house ..

We already have a floor map under the settee, just that the floor map was not long enough to reach the entrance. Long term plan was to change the door which can fit a long floor map, will diy a long floor map from door entrance to settee :P

maybe you could get the door people to make a door that's slightly shorter so there's a gap below, then install a brush strip below to seal gap yet allow it to go over the floor mat easily.

It looks something like this. Seen it as DIY stores.
