Journey Of My Minaret Walk

Day 39 (18 Sep)

Amasco totally pissed me off today! When we first ordered our lights from them, we were told they have run out of T5, but they guaranteed me that the lights will be in by last Friday. I'd already told them the urgency and that I can wait for them if it's Friday. When I sms them last Thursday to check on the status, they replied it will be in only next wed (which is tomorrow). They were so nonchalant I can't believe it! They knew it's delayed but yet can't be bothered to update me, knowing that my request is urgent!

Then they promised me that the lights will be delivered definitely by next Wednesday. So this morning, I called and asked. They said no idea, will check and call me back in 1/2 hour. Guess what, not only No calls back, but subsequently all my calls the person will tell me the boss was engaged on the phone! When my wife called in the evening, miraculously the boss is not engaged on the phone anymore! But she sold my wife the same duck, that the lights are in Singapore already but she doesn't know where so she will check and revert in 1/2 hours. No sound, no picture since. I sms her to cancel my order straightaway!

So now I have to scramble to buy my T5 from places that have stock for me by tomorrow! Really exasperating!

:jawdrop: :jawdrop: :furious::bangwall:

Day 40 (19 Sep 2012)

Today is T5 day! Went to 3 places just to buy my T5. Finally got my full supply by 4pm. Just in time for electrician to come down tomorrow to install. I realised that there aren't alot of shops that carry the LED T5. And most of them seem to get from the same suppliers. I've been to 2 shops who told me if supplier A, it costs $40+/pc, and if it's supplier B, it costs $60+/pc. In the end, got the 4ft T5 from a shop for $49/pc and the 3ft ones from a forummer for $38/pc. Unfortunately the same forummer does not have enough 4ft ones to fulfill my order.

Wah! Very heng to be able to get all your lights so last minute!

Can understand the frustration... will they be doing a full refund to you if you have already paid?

Yes, it is indeed frustrating and I have to pay a higher price because of that. Luckily I haven't paid yet, only a deposit which can be used for my other downlight purchases from them. And because I wanted so last minute, I have to also waste time and petrol to self-collect. Really :furious:

Never mind, bad things aside, wall story called and say they will be down tomorrow to apply the sealer. Thereafter the wallpapers themselves will be up on Friday. At least that's a piece of good news!

One thing we've learnt is to always ask for a 2nd opinion. Sometimes we are guilty of trusting the contractors too much because they are the so called experts.

Case in point, my yard windows have a lot of sticky stains, those left behind from sticky films or decals. My window contractor told me those cannot be removed and suggested that I change the glass pane instead. So happen I got a solar film person to come down and take measurements for the solar films I want to install. For the yard windows, I told him I will be changing the window glass because of the stain. He was shocked because he said those can be easily removed! Sure enough he came in and did the job today and my windows look good as new now. If I had listened to the window contractor, I would spending $600 for nothing! :furious:

I dun know how he did it but it's really as good as new after he's done with them. I can pm you his contact if you want. Happened to find him in the forum too. Seems quite recommended for window related stuff and curtains.

Minaret can you share your solar tint contact? Is he good? I want to tint my house windows for privacy reason.

Dunno yet cause he hasn't applied them yet. But he seems a nice and earnest guy. Price was also pretty competitive. But he seems really busy though so sometimes very difficult to get an appointment out of him.
