Have been really busy this week....finally finished my wedding photoshoot and prepping myself to be ready before that...am so glad it's finally over!

Day 19 to 20

Plastering is done and electrician came by to lay the wires....so sad that we can't conceal the cables....but nevertheless the trunking in living room would be largely hidden by the cove lights.

Check out the amount of wires used....heard from hb this was insufficient

Been away for some time as. Am glad to update my t-blog. The house Reno is progressing well, albeit a bit slow. But this also means we can take some time to think through our decisions and discuss them together. Realised that Reno is about decision-making. In fact, decisions have to be made almost every other day. Some initial plans have to be reworked too. For example, our original plan for Aircon trunking could not materialise because of our low beam :bleah: and had to take into consideration the running of the Aircon pipe. Not as easy as we had thought it to be in the first place.

Nevertheless, the house is coming together and we are excited at the prospect that my hb can move back end July/ early August.

Lost track of the day so I shall just update as it is. :dunno:

Cove light for living room is up. 2 reasons why we decided to have cove and downlights:

1) to create ambience in the living room

2) to hide all visible trunking on the ceiling

However, one downside is that this makes the ceiling real low. Our original ceiling was only 2.4+m.

Have to keep an opening in the downlight area for the installation of the Aircon blower because of low ceiling.

Have to lower the false ceiling at space between bedrooms

Big switches we'll have in the house. (this is in the kitchen btw)

If you remember, I highlighted that there were some rectifications to be made at the bathroom.

This was what the contractor did. Hb did not like it as the slightly raised platform at the pipe area as it would be a potential hazard and a definitely toe-stubber. This is because our bathroom is small. Hence, the got the tiler to redo this area and also to redo one of the bathroom walls which wasn't 90 degrees to each other (though not visible, when the basin is installed, it would be very obvious). They had to hack and retile these areas.

Before (with slightly raised platform)

After rectification (they had to remove vent pipes again for this). Much better I think. Safer and neater too.

Toilet has been installed. Bought all the toilet accessories from a small shop in Toa Payoh. Managed to save another $200+ on what we thought was the lowest quote (another shop in Balestier). They have very good after sales service too. When we highlighted that the basin was not what we wanted and the tap sent had scratches, they sent someone down to replace that very Saturday. One cons is that because it's a small shop, they may not have all the items so some of the items have to be viewed via catalogues. If anyone is interested, pm me and I will share the contacts with you.

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. (Genesis 1:3 NIV)

Our downlights were from Philips
