my3rmflat 9 Report post Posted June 3, 2012 (edited) I have just put an option to purchase a 3 room flat in Yishun yesterday.I know my completion is still a few months away but no harm starting this journal now.Tomorrow, I will start to look for a bank loan and now I'm starting to plan my renovation. The house is in a very "original condition" and about 26 years old.So it will be a complete overhaul.I wanted to make the leaving room like an indoor garden with lot's of indoor and wall plants. The furniture will be those outdoor garden furniture, you won't be entering into a living room, but a garden. However, my wife will be too shock to accept this idea.So I have to choose a more practical theme. It will be just a simple contemporary design.Would like to hear from your advice and input. LLChing 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 I'd like that concept too if not having to worry about NEA keep coming over to check for mosquitoes, pruning and caring of the plants etc. Some time ago, I had a indoor fish pond at my balcony surrounded with potted plants and pebbles and climbers along the drain pipes. We even had a small patch of fake carpet grass for that "nature" effect. The maintenance was no joke and I got rid of it after 5 years. Not to mention I am no green thumb. All plants die on me. A simple, versatile and practical design is a good move Enjoy your planning!
taichipanda 3 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 Cool idea but not practical.Something modern, simple and practical is better.
potatoes 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 Wow.... good idea to have a garden theme but I will always be challenged by the idea of maintenance. Plants grows best outdoors with natural light, rain and space too. Agree with Taichipanda, idea of having a green interior garden is cool but may not be practical. May_dream1 14 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 interesting idea but not sure whether its safe. having plants creeping all over the walls will make the wall structure weak. one day, the wall might just start to crack and one day, you might see your neighbour through your living room. my3rmflat 9 Report post Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) Hahaha, actually there are many hardy indoor plants that can survive with only weekly care.I will try to convince my wife. If not, I will do a long but low marine tank. Here is a shot of my tank. Edited June 4, 2012 by my3rmflat
