miaor 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2012 We are now having our EA renovation half done. We have a very minor renovation, just painting and three build-in cabinets. Since I am now 4-month pregnant, we start to worry about the potential hazard residue left in the air. We've read a lot warnings and stories about the renovation pollution, but it seems not a common topic here. Does anyone have a clue about this issue? How long do people generally wait before moving in a newly renovated house?
symphony 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2012 Shouldn't be an issue in your case considering the works done. There may be slight formaldehyde emissions from the adhesive used on laminating the panels of your cabinets, so you may want to leave them open to allow the gas to disperse over a couple of days. Avoid vinyl furnishing materials, as they are known for "outgassing" throughout its product life, and there is still an on-going controversy on the health-safety of using them.
