rage777 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2012 Hi everyone,So sorry all, this is a repost of my topic of the same name as something went wrong with my profile. This is my first posting in RT and its for my new home, a 3I HDB, see floor plan below. Decided to post here to leave behind a journal of the renovation process.Decided to sell my 5I HDB in Yew Tee. Too inconvenient there, both the lack of decent food and transportation. Right after selling my place I started hunting for my new place, criteria being as close to the city as possible.Lo and behold, the first unit I viewed is right smack in the middle of the city!Chop, stamp, confirm! rage777 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2012 Still too fast! You can't see it here, but the entire floor is popping up. You feel as if you are walking into hill country. Luckily I am prepared to tear up everything.

ejszaka 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2012 Congrats Rage777. Can't wait to see your reno. And don't worry about the size, you will get used to it. Convenience is more important. Hong Kongers live in shoe box units smaller than this, and they also survive.
rage777 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2012 Thanks ejszaka! The wall for the kitchen and cbr 1 is coming down, so will be bigger.Yes, convenience is definitely the key here, considering I stayed in Yew Tee for 10 years (A friend: "Where is Yew Tee har?" )I will survive!Congrats Rage777. Can't wait to see your reno. And don't worry about the size, you will get used to it. Convenience is more important. Hong Kongers live in shoe box units smaller than this, and they also survive. Valerie Low 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 Doing some shopping for accessories. Going to be hacking the 2 toilets into one... unfortunately the pipes in between are in an awkward position so the toilet is going to be rather ...erm... awkward ...Hi rage, I am also using the tap you shortlisted. Just wanted to say that this tap looks sleek but I don't like it because when we use our wet hands to turn off the tap, water from our hands will be dripping on the tap ledge and causing it to have water marks when it dried up. Every time after I wash my hands, I have to use a dry cloth to wipe the tap as I dislike seeing water stain on the tap. I find it quite inconvenient.
ejszaka 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2012 Hey Rage,I think I understand what you mean by the pipes being in very awkward positions. In those days, people who design HDB flats must have had their brains in their asses. I think it is still do-able given the constraints. When I bought my place, I just copied whatever the previous owner had already done, and it seems to work just fine. You can check out the pics on my t-blog. He sealed up the door to the WC, so entrance is only via the bathroom. The wall between the two rooms were hacked, and the pipes in between were wrapped and tiled to create a fake entrance to the WC. The only weirdness you have to live with is one of the windows is partially blocked which is perfectly fine for me.http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43317&st=
rage777 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2012 Nice pearly sheen for the kitchen tiles. I didn't like the idea of plastering although my ID said that's what everyone is doing. This is also the point the where the new kitchen starts.Changing the window grilles to something lighter and brighter.Rubbish chute door changed. I like the walls...
