My Cosy Home @ Hillview

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

For those who have read my previous thread "An EM situated amongst greenery", that place is actually my parents'.

I have moved to Hillview Avenue (a complete new environment to me) and did no renovation when I moved in. The house was in a liveable condition.

However, the plan to renovate parts of the house materialise when the current kitchen is starting to disappoint in terms of functionality and storage.

Therefore, I decided to have a live-in renovation and bear with the noise and dust for the next 5 weeks. (estimated by my contractor).

First of all,

The floor plan.

My place is the corner unit and this is the floor plan of the first level.

The plan is to renovate the bathroom, kitchen and the backyard area. No change to the rest of the house on the first level.

The plan is to renovate the bathroom as the wall and floor tiles are very very dated.

The massive work will be in the kitchen and backyard. The current kitchen will be the dry kitchen and I will be installing air-con in it. That will be ideal for baking!

Part of the backyard will be enclosed to be the wet kitchen where the heavy cooking takes place! The space after the new wet kitchen shall be the laundry area and perhaps storage.

Day 1 of Renovation: 21st May 2012

The guy who came to saw off the iron fence was very experienced! He cut through the low wall and it will be hacked by the guys later.

The concrete beneath the floor tiles in the kitchen is so tough that it took a while for the guy to hack.

The guy cut off the portion of tiles to be hacked as I will be keeping the existing floor tiles for the new laundry area right beside the back boundary wall. Bamboo blinds at the laundry area were taken down as they cant be used after the renovation.
