san20sg 1 Report post Posted May 14, 2012 Dear Forummers, I have just bought an old property in geylang who badly needs renovations and requires to change all the aircon units & replacement of all the concealed pipings. It is a 3 bedroom, about 1238 sqft. Currently it has 4 indoor units & 3 outdoor units, living room one compressor, master room & one common room(next to each other) share one compressor & the other common room a separate compressor by itself. I thought this is pretty strange for one property to have 3 compressors. Won't this cause alot of electricity consumption? I am an aircon novice. This is my first property & I have really no idea what to do. Can anyone advise the best way or the best system to go around this property (one separate compressor for the living room + system 3 for the 3 rooms or to stick with 3 compressors? I got wide-ranging quotes from $4350 (3 compressors but normal type, not inverter) all the way to $8000. Why is this so?Can someone recommend a reliable contractor as i think the concealed piping replacement is one of the most utmost concern, other than price. Please email me llishan@hotmail.com. Thanks,Louise
yoongf 11 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 3 compressor for such apt with no current limitation is correct.Usually, the living area.. the aircon is sized for a party.. say 10 ppl, then CNY party will be nice.Usually, all 3 bedroom will on the aircon together, so 2 compressor supporting 3 rooms is also correct, since the largest System 3 compressor is about 38K BTU , which is not enough to fully support 3 rooms simultaneously.I am assuming.. occasinally got throw Xbox Kinect Dance Central II party, when on aircon.. expect cool down within 5min, got direct sun hitting at least 1 wall. san20sg 1 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 Many thanks. There won't be much usage for the living room aircon, except for CNY or when friends come over. We do not use aircon excessively too, only a couple of hours at night, even if i on aircon i w put it at around 25-26 degrees. We are scared of the cold :-)What would be your advise for us? Our utmost consideration is (i) problem-free installation of piping (ii) lasting & durable (at least 5 years) (iii) electricity consumption & (iv) pricing. I was thinking of a separate condenser (normal type will do) for the living room, and a system 3 (invertor) for the 3rms. Preferably Daikin. Hopefully I can contain the damage to below $5000. Is that possible? Thanks.
terumo 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 Hi,I will suggest bedroom (sys 3) to be inverter.Living sys 1 non inverter as seldom used.I think Daikin brand for above setup should be able to get it done ard $5k.Pm me for contact if needed.
san20sg 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2012 Many thanks Terumo, After much careful consideration, we have decided not to get Daikin, as it is just too expensive. What do you think of Mitshibishi or Panasonic? Is it possible to get these with the same specs under $4000?
san20sg 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2012 went to coolserve website & is very confused by their various configurations? What is the difference between MitshibishiMXY-3A28VA/MSY-GE10VA x 3 vs MXY-4A28VA/3xMSY-GE10VA?
san20sg 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2012 For aircon-servicing,I was quoted $30 per unit, for 4 aircon units. Topup gas for R410 is $80 per unit. Is this ex? what is the market rate?
san20sg 1 Report post Posted May 24, 2012 Hey guys, My quotation got this exclusion and that I got to provide 2 sets 20A/1PH/230C Isolators for new aircons. Is this common for the owners to provide this? I thought it will be included in the package price? I don't know where to get this though. Would someone assist with this soonest as I need to sign the quotation by today. 1) OWNER TO PROVIDE 2 SET 20A/1PH/230V ISOLATORS FOR NEW AIR-CONS.
