Defects Of Renovation Works

I started my renovation around Oct 2011. Until now, it's still not done yet. There are alot of defects and we are forced to close one eye on alot of them. However, the boss of the renovation company is getting far too much. She don't even care about designs anymore. The white laminate got a dent and she claimed that the new ones she ordered is in a different shade of white. And that she's being nice to ask me if i am okay about it. She got nasty and said i am being unreasonable when i told her i am not fine with it. There are about 5 doors. She said she can only change 2 doors to the new white. The design will be spoilt. I engaged a Interior Designer company and she don't care about designs anymore. And she proceeded to say that she's not making any money from my project and she can forgo the last payment which is about 2.5k. And she hanged up the call with a loud 'BYE'.

Pior to the above, the door from HDB got scratched badly, the basin got spoilt and the main door got chipped off. She used a black marker to cover the defects on my black bookshelf boards and told us that's the only thing she can do for those defects. I accepted them because she do not give me any choice. But the above is the last straw.

What i am worry now is the warranty for those that are done. Does it mean that for forgoing the last payment, she do not have to give the warranty? Like the flooring, carpentry and painting? And she have not chemical wash my flooring. Can any one advise me on how can i deal with such a case? It's been dragging for too long.

I'm so sorry to hear about such bad news but what is given in your renovation contract? Are there any fine prints on warranty or defects?

If the T&C for your renovation contract doesn't stipulate anything on warranty, then u r at the losing end.

Have u tried calling CASE?

You might wish to go on RADAC's website to check if your renovator is registered with them. If she is, then you could approach RADAC to ask them to see if they would be able to assist you in any manner.

There are people telling me calling CASE would not help. =( The boss even said she welcome me to call case or small claim because she is not afraid!

Can she just decides not to do this project? There is no need for a formal closure?

I will reveal the company after my previous ID get back to me. He left the company so the boss is taking over. And as a boss, i did not expect such a service.

How about approaching the press? U can get the reporter from Chinese newspapers to drop by to take photos. But without your face taken. It's high time such companies get some warning.

From what u shared, it seems like the lady who took over your project isn't the boss or a partner of the company. It looks like she is a staff who took over. And as such, she is not pocketing any commission so your project is getting the least or minimal attention from her.

Is she the boss of the company or the boss of the marketing segment your flat came under?

Did you call up the main line to speak to the boss? U can buy a $5 report from acra to find out whether she is a boss or not. It doesn't seemed right that the owner of a business would be treating a customer the way she is.

I suggest you seek legal help to see where you stand.

Small Claims can not help you.

Try CASE or Hbay.

Since you are signing off as a representative of D'Ampire Design which is an ID firm, and mentioned that u just walked out of court arising presumably from renovation done for a client, did u win the case against your client?

u just wrote in one of your entries that "small claims can not help" - and still recommending that the client seek legal recourse?? Isn't that self-contradictory?

That's not nice of you to write such remarks!

It really reflects badly on the ID firm D'Ampire Design that you are representing when u express yourself by writing such disgusting stuff on the forum for all to see.

It isn't difficult for other forum members to imagine how your clients were being treated given your attitude here when representing your ID firm in this forum.

I am approaching CASE soon. Hope CASE would be able to help. The boss is not afraid of CASE. She told me i can go CASE for all i want because they cannot do anything to her.
