Reno Ideas For Hdb 4A Resale

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am new in this forum and know nuts about reno too. So I am here to learn. Some background about the place I bought, its a 4A resale at 100sqm. As it is in move-in condition (at least this is what me and my wife feel) during the initial visit, I believe the kitchen and 2 bathrooms need some revamp. The flat is about 14 yrs old. So my question is how do you guys usually do planning? From now till 2nd appt should be less than 1.5 mths. thanks.

It really depends on whether u require any Id (interior designer) intervention or not.

If u are expecting some element of theme-based design, then u will need to look for an ID. There are also some of us out here who are more adventurous & created their own designs & engaging their own contractors to get it translated to something designer-inspired - I need to warn u that it might not turn out the way u planned.

If u only require a "no-frills" face lift, then u should just look for a contractor.

Once you get these thoughts sorted out, it'll be time for you to start shortlisting a list of renovators & proceed in selecting from there.

Hi edenstrauss, thanks for your advise. I think me and wife will be the designer since we are on limited budget. I think we will just do up kitchen, bathroom, rewiring of electrical and painting of whole flat. Based on these scope, any good contractor to recommend? and roughly how long planning before I get my key? Sorry for these questions..many thanks.

Hi,

U r welcome to ask me questions but sometimes, I might take longer than usual to reply :P

Yes I do have contractors to recommend but u need to book him in advance after he makes a site visit to make measurements (and provide u with a quotation). His schedule is extremely packed with his regular ID & I have no idea if he could accommodate to extra appointments.

U might want to visit my blogging entry here on what he has done for us - for our restoring our bedrooms which used to be amalgamated. He specialises in cement-related works but does have his own carpenter too who will show clients samples of formica, laminates & handles, etc, which was what I heard from other renotalk members who engaged him for such reno.

I would PM u his number. Please check your mailbox.
