Possible Move In In 7th Mth? Any Thing To Take Note

Recommended Posts

Hello therat

It is ok to move in during the 7th month. Proper dates need to be selected.

Official move-in date is when you shift in to stay. To be more precise.....to sleep and continuously spend longer time there.

Nothing to do with furniture.

However, if you still prefer to stick to procedure so that your mind can be at rest, there are a few things to observe:

Select proper date and time to move-in with the addition of lighted stove at door; "nian gao" and mandarin oranges to be placed at locations to catch mould; red packet with a bag of rice or into the rice container; previous home utensils and bathroom gears to be brought along and etc. If you want to observe these, let me know and I'll post the list here next week.

Selection of good time/dates have been posted in other threads.

Hello

Depending on what dialect group you belong to, you can pick all or part of it. I think there's a list here already or in the other forum.

Adding on to the above mentioned:

1) Salt to spread on floor or sprinkle on designated corners of the house. One method is to trap while the latter is to guard.

2) Incense to offer to your gods. They must be put in the right location and bring into the house with the right procedure. There's also a proper timing for differrent gods. If there are a few gods, then there are priorities.

3) You may pray to the earth god if you want to. If you don't have any, you can knock on the exterior right side of your main door five times and place the incense pot there.

4) Bring a pineapple. 4 pears. A plate of "fa chai", mussels. Can place together with the "nian Gao" or mandarin oranges.

5) Tie your chopsticks/fork&spoon witha red ribbon. If got brooms, wrap with plastic the frist day. Don't sweep.

6) Put a bowl of rice with on the kitchen table.

7) Keep the lights on and windows open for at least 2 hours. SHould have some relatives along to make some noise.

8) Prepare some coins. $1 the best. Throw as you step into the house in the direction of the "sheng qi".

There are many more things to add if want. You can get more from the customs of your older family members or relatives. Or you can treat the above as optional.
