pinkturtle 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2012 Hello! Welcome to the forum! We were also contemplating similar designs but decided to give up the idea eventually. If you are thinking of having those vertical hanging consoles, you may want to reconsider as our ceiling height are not as high as those in other countries so the feel would be quite different from that in the pictures.Yup we decided to forgo that. Too expensive We are thinking of just a simple console sitting on the floor with 3 horizontal shelves at the side
pinkturtle 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2012 This will be the general theme of the house, airy blue/seabreeze/white/birch
pinkturtle 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2012 Our final shortlisted console design. The difference is that the external colour will be birch and internal colour bluish-teal to match our wall. The console will be flat on the floor unlike the one in the picture which comes with legs. I'm quite excited to see our the 3D drawings.
taichipanda 3 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) ...My hubby was saying that if we choose light coloured laminates, there will be dark lines around the edges? Is there a way to not have such lines? I've noticed this and it can be quite distracting. Is there a way to have a smooth edge finish like a solid wood console? You can choose to do ABS trimming all round, full-core acrylic laminates or PU spray paint to eliminate the dark lines around the edges. Cheaper alternative is to touch up the dark lines with paint. Edited May 15, 2012 by taichipanda
taichipanda 3 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 Hi, are the cabinet frame/carcasses done up with ABS trimming as well? Usually I only see ABS trimmings on the door panels, but not the frames. When I enquire this with a contractor - the reason give was ABS trim panels do not come in such large sizes to cover the thicker frame panels. The alternative solution suggested was to use full-core laminates. Not sure if the contractor was trying to smoke me??The casement doors on my WIW is full height from floor to ceiling (approx 2400mm) and even the width is not standard size, then how the ABS trimming come about?Full-core acrylic laminates (4' X 8') is $200 per piece, too costly and wastage is high if use for carcass. pinkturtle 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 We have been doing very little research lately & patiently waiting for our ID to come out with the 3D drawings. My hubby is planning on where he wants to put his LAN points around the house. I think he's a little crazy because he wants to use the a corner of the BS as part of his "work bench". Recently we also saw some photos of the flat's internal taken by the neighbours who have already collected their keys. Many ugly beams which we feel would make our false ceiling look weird. I guess we will need to consult our ID again when we meet him the next time.

I build a comm storage unit around my electrical DB with 2 double gang power socket, 1 telephone point and 1 SCV point; it will house my singnet modem and wireless router. I am also using a 5-ports switch with my AV console in my bedroom with each LAN point on the switch to the tv, blu-ray player and htpc.Ceiling height below 2500mm is not suitable with false ceiling, L-box or fan. My house is a 35 yo 3i at Bedok area, the ceiling is below 2500mm and there are a lot of beams, so no chance to use false ceiling, L-box and ceiling fan. In the end save some money in this area. Everything leads to the DB where he'll place the switch and router.
pinkturtle 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2012 Appliances & electronic stuffsLooking at how small our yard is, we bought a slim Thomson washer.. This leaves a large enough space to do wall mounted shelves for baskets & stuffs. For our TV, we are considering between a Sony EX520 & EX650. 40" EX52040" EX650Yamaha YHT-S401 soundbar for our sound system.Any recommendations for fridges/ovens? Budget about 1K for a fridge (want to get a mid-sized one). Not too sure about the prices of ovens?!?
