Question On Aircond Trunking

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Need some advise.

I'm in the midst of my renovation and I have just installed my aircond.

But the problem is the contractor did the drain pipe trunking at the bottom of the room, just above the skirting (see picture below).

Can I check if anybody here can advise if this is normal?

I told the contractor I wanted it at the ceiling - just below my L-box.

But he argued that this is the aircond drain pipe and must have a gradient....and its not possible to put it at the ceiling.

My main concern is that if the trunking is at the bottom, then I cant put by bed against the wall? There will be a gap.

Hope someone can advise me on this.

Thanks.

Aircon got a pan at the bottom of the fancoil unit, and this pan collects the water and drains off towards the toilet.

the pipe must be below the fancoil unit. I dun see how u can have it below the L box. Only the ceiling mounted aircon got water pump to pump it any direction.

If u really dun like the trunking at the bottom, wad u can do is to built a false thick beam and mount the fancoil on the false beam. The drainpipe is hidden in the beam. The beam is high enough to maintain the gradient to the toilet.

Alternatively.. u use partition board/carpentry/featurewall to make the wall flush with the aircon trucking.

Thanks yoongf.

Really appreciate the advice.

Is it common that most aircond trunking is done this way?

I have seen before in the reno t-blogs that the aircond trunking is typically on top.

Thats why I find it strange when its done at the bottom.

And its weird to see a gap between my furniture and my wall.

Some reno.. .. the drain pipe and compressor piping dun run in same casing. So.. the thick trunking is on top, while the smaller drain hose runs elsewhere. thick trunking goes outdoor to compressor, drain hose goes to toilet floortrap.
