Panel Led Light / False Ceiling

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Not sure this is a right place, it involve DIY also. I am evaluating / seeking to replace existing light, at the same time plan for a false ceiling (ask ppl to do, but must get the light in first).

I am using 2x 40 watt circular tubes, living room is square. There is a fan in the middle of the living room.

Intend to renovate with false ceiling, with circular concave around the fan.

LED light Panel - those super thin ones, has lots of wattage range, sizes. Not sure what wattage/lumi does LED tanslate to ? Anyone uses these and has recommendations or reviews ?

Just some comments.

Circular concave around the fan. I done this in my previous house and there is hardly any wind from the fan.

LED light panel. It is rather expensive still. I think if you buy cheap LED strip and lay white perspex may have the same effect.

I DIY my LED lightings in my current house. LED is energy saving but a lot from PL lights since they are already energy saving.

LED is very directional and the spread is not as good.

Hope this helps.

Those light panel light is very well diffused, one coffee shop in bukit batok has recently (since cny) retrofited whole area with light panel, i am impressed with the light quality and the way light diffused, last time was illuminated with 2x 40w t8 tube, now the same area is light with 40w panel.,no harsh shadow..in fact, i seen them only on the alternate panel, maybe too bright if on all. If you r keen, can go there have a cup of coffee and see it for yourselve

Hi all,

Im currently doing major reno on my house and installing those slim LED panels whole house. I've went to an LED contractor and visited one of his site that was fitted with the LEDs. I must say, I'm impressed.

These slim LED panels are different as the LEDs are at the edge and the center are diffuser (just like those super thin LED V. Thats why they can be thin. Light diffusion is also very wide, prob around 175 deg? Energy saving wise, u definately save more than PL as LED wattage is low plus they still using step down converter. Its like using those battery type lights! The contractor showed me before at his job site- he switched on all the lights in the house and asked me to look at the house meter. It is barely moving!

Heat wise, it produced much less heat.

As for the false ceiling, since the panel is so thin and the power supply also small, its possible to keep the ceiling to only about 3 inches instead of the normal 5-6 inches. This will give your living room more height also.

Hope this helps.
