Read an interesting article by nytimes on new yorkers becoming overly design-conscious about their homes.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/17/garden/how-to-tell-if-youre-living-an-over-propped-life.html

A good reminder to us not to overdo things. Our home is a home, not a showroom. :)

A good read... :) i guess props are fine but only if they truly reflect who u are....

Hi Paloma, do you mind sharing where you got the retro looking clock on your bookshelf? I've been looking for a nice clock that can stand on my tv console, but hard to find.. Thanks a lot!

We are still sourcing for dining chairs. Thinking of mixing different chairs.

We need more greens and art!

Our bedroom...it's lacking a giant poster!

at first sight when I saw the color of the bookshelf, it's like .....hmmmm.......

when I saw the whole pic of the full filled bookshelf and dining table and chairs... it's like ....wow....!! the color matched perfect!!

I do love the Ikea style bedroom as well! good taste!

Hey, my husband bought the clock from Ikea a few years ago. Apparently it has been discontinued already.

Hey thanks! Ya I guess books always add colour and warmth to the home. Almost all of them belong to my husband, only 10 per cent is mine?? :)

hi hi~

Your amazing living room and bedroom almost got me thinking of copying them wholesale! ( shameless me! haha )

one can imagine peaceful reading by the sunlight in the papa bear chair while the kids? play on ard in the house or as the significant other relaxes and drink a cup of hot coffee by the table, reading a book.

And yet the bed room is such a place of serenity! i think the giant poster might disturb the peaceful vibe u have now in the bedroom?

My place is coming in April - June 2013 ( Sengkang Fernvale Palms ), so i still got some time to research on all these details, but yours and Itsy's blog are definitely the direction me n my significant other ( which also.. is J & D ) are looking for..

Do you think it would be ok for u to pm me the reno costs n K's contact? Very curious to see how things are broken down and done up. While its still a long way , and i suspect hes gonna get alot more business! but better to get his contact first i suppose.

Thanks ahead! and yes i agree.. u need more greenery!

Today, the remaining electrical stuff in our house - some lights, fan and doorbell were finally installed.

After taking a break from reno for awhile, I kind of forgot how dusty and dirty it can get, with all the drilling and stuff. The cleaning after that was really back breaking.

That said, we were really pleased with our new fan - a black Relite petite. Initially, we were bent on getting the Haiku fan, but when the price spiralled out of hand, we told ourselves we weren't going to pay $900 for a ceiling fan.

So we got ourselves a white baby KDK fan from Goh Ah Bee. But then, two days ago, Mr Paloma spotted the Relite fan in the latest home & decor issue. It was exactly what we wanted - black and simple - so we decided to get it!

So now, we are going to let go of our KDK fan. It's white, with a 44-inch blade and is remote-controlled. It's still in its original packaging, unopened, and we have the receipt for warranty. The price is $170, and we are willing to deliver it to the buyer. Please PM me if you are interested! :)

Hi, I'm designing my place too without an ID and our designs look similar to yours. Is it possible to get the contacts of your contractor?

You can email me at alchia@gmail.com.

Thanks!
