LynZie 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2012 Hi Lyn. Your renovation is very fast. Within one-two weeks so many things are completed. Your ID is very efficient. I think both of us should be moving in about the same time.Hi Ayazumi.. I think so too n couldn't be more pleased When we were surveying for reno quotes, the other companies n even our ID told us it would take 6 weeks including carpentry for the whole process to be completed. Looking at how things r progressing, I agree that our ID can be considered efficient at arranging the schedules for the individual works to be done. Our AC appt was supposed to be on this coming Monday but she managed to liaised with the AC salesperson to get it done by Thursday. If all other works r as scheduled, she would handover our home by next thursday Hoping to move some stuff over the weekend n our mover will move the remaining stuff from the storage place on Monday. We have arranged other deliveries on Monday as well n hopefully by husb's bdae ie on Labour day, we will be so-called settled in our new home.. Of coz, along the way there r minor defects that we have noticed n informed the ID to rectify. It's really sad n scary to read up about some others reno experience where things dun go their way.. Looking forward to ur finished product too.. Excited much rite?

ayazumi 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2012 Hi Lyn. I'm glad that your ID coordinates well for your renovation, and even the AC installation work. I would say that your ID is very helpful to you. Most of the ID/contractor though they say will help to coordinate, end up they call the homeowners (or their customers) to inform the AC guys to come on particular days for installation. This is kind of wasting time and frustrating when the AC guys don't listen to your request and insist on their way to install the pipes in their way, and also need to spend our time or leave to be at site to liaise with AC guys where to run the pipings. Some people like myself are first home owners. We are not in this profession, therefore won't know what to do for renovation. If we know everything, we will be working as an ID/contractor already. So happy that your renovation is coming near to the final stage. Do keep us posted of the updates. Quite thankful to her that we do not have to be there when the individual works or deliveries r done. Husb didn't need to take any leave during the reno period as yet n I didn't even go to the unit during the day. Our QC happens only when husb's back from work or on weekends.. I guess our reno cost is worth spending up to date.. Counting down now.. Hopefully there'll be no major hiccups
LynZie 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2012 (edited) Hola..It's gonna be e last week of reno..hopefully...Nothing much was done yesterday except for plumbing work n e tiler fixing a wall tile in e bathroom which we noticed a light hairline crack n a small dent. Suddenly, it felt like the whole process came to a standstill..maybe coz e weekend was just over n nothing obvious was seen in e unit yesterday.Anyway, we had grilles n bi-fold doors up today.. E differing design for the grilles by e corridor n e back is becoz husb said it would make any break-in from e corridor a bit difficult due to the design Hope to c e gate n carpentry tomoro.. LynZie 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2012 It has been a buzzing busy last few days to e reno process.. Of coz, with hiccups here n there n thus causing some delays.. But we r determined to not let anything ruin our plans for e move-in over e weekends. Our kitchen cabinet installation which started only on Wednesday was delayed due to e leaking gas pipe. It was alarming as we thot since we r not using city gas, there isn't any pipes to begin with. It was actually due to e gas pipe that was linked to our unit from e unit below. Our kitchen cabinet was only completed today as e city gas tech only managed to resolve e leakage on thurs noon. However, e tabletop will only be in by tomoro..fingers crossed. Only thing is our initial choice of white from e diamond series was not in stock or not enuf as what she indicated in her text to husb. So, leniently we decided on e next choice of colour - pure white..Apparently, that was not e end to our reno woes.. Our ID dropped a major bombshell..by informing that our MBR wardrobe can only be completed by e following Monday due to some manufacturing delay. Of coz, we kicked a fuss.. a first during e whol reno process as we dun wanna any disruption to our planned move-in schedule. I wouldn't wanna move in when ppl r still going in n out of e house coz that would meant more clean-up. Finally, she managed to arrange for e 'skeleton' to be installed by sat n e doors only to be fixed by mon. Well, I can accept that kinda arrangement as e installation of e doors wouldn't make much of a mess. However, pleasant surprise it was when we found that alas she managed to get it done n completed by today itself.. Blinds were up today..our glass doors couldn't make it's way today as planned as e workers only came by at slightly after 5pm.. They had to carry e 2 panels separately using e stairs to our 11th floor.. Poor thing, since e lift couldn't accommodate e height.. Thus, they can't do any drilling since it was already evening time.Husb managed to seek his frens help to bring over most of our boxes from e storage place this evening..that would meant less cost for e mover to bring in e rest of our bulky items on mon. Again, keeping our fingers crossed..we r hoping everything goes smoothly tomoro for e remaining works.. Our kitchen table top, e glass door installation n minor touch up on wall plastering, painting, fixing of e bathroom n wc shelvings n sealing of some laminate flooring edges n carpentry. Really hope to be able to do our own major clean up on sat nite n sun b4 our other stuff n furniture deliveries comes in on mon.Till e next update, following r pics of what's completed.. LynZie 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) I finished cleaning and reach home and bathe coming to 3AM, so took some time to browse through renotalk before sleeping. Wish your moving house a smooth progress.Things came to a halt today.. Table top r up along with e glass doors.. Unfortunately, we can't do any cleaning today as husb had a minor accident at work earlier.. Had a cut at e back of his head n fractured one of his fingers on his right hand..Just got back from fetching him from e hosp after almost a day of observation.. Hopefully it's a blessing in disguise.. Gotta start my major clean up tomoro.. E flooring r super dusty even after e cleaning done by e worker on Thursday..Btw Aya..I notice e unbearable smell in e bottom kitchen cabinets after e table top were installed. E smell wasnt there yest.. Do u encounter e same? If so, what did u use to get rid of e smell? TIA Edited April 28, 2012 by LynZie
LynZie 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Felt like I've had one of e longest day of my life.. Ferrying kids to n fro classes on separate timings, 3 visits to AH n yet not starting any cleaning at all as planned..let alone having our virgin nite at our new place.. husb had a mishap at work n thus was warded for observation for almost a day.. Fractured one of his finger bone on his right hand..wonder how he's gonna move stuff around to accommodate e cleaning of e rooms later in e day Just gotta take it slow n easy I guess..Anyway, I'm still gonna proceed with my major clean up..e floors r super dusty.. Glass door n table top r up today..of coz with faults that need to be rectified.. Some pics for updates..Table top..supposed to be a switch from e diamond series to pure white due to no stock but I think I still c sparkles..Glass door..noticed e gap at e top..just hoping it doesn't affect e aircon in e living room much.. Dunno how else to minimise e aircon escaping to e kitchen.. Edited April 28, 2012 by LynZie
