hello ...... it's been a while since i last log in.....

and it seem like we have got more an more kakis....

well for me.... i'm still waiting for the 1st appointment which falls on the 1st Oct.

some how the 1st appointment seem longer than usual.....

but hopefully i can get it as soon as possible.

also for the reno...... i have found a company which is willing to do the whole hse for 50K.

but the material is still unknown.

so what do you ppl think??

Got quotation? U have other quotation to compare? It is better that you have a breakdown of everything u wanted to do for your house, best in black and white. Cost of material use for example flooring $3/ft or $5/ft, be it homo tiles, marble, parquet etc. It applies to all other things, window, window grills, bedroom/kitchen/bath room doors etc.

In the event of you selecting more costly material than what is quoted who should absorbs?

50k should be basic reno. Be prepared to pay more if u wanted something more.

Hi lazydevil,

POSB has a promotional home loan package - fixed rate of 1.99% for the first 3 yrs - condition - to get mortgage insurance from them (AVIVA). Lock-in period - 3 yrs. However, no penalty incurred for any early prepayment - min $10K - as long as there is still bal by the end of 3rd yr.

We thought it's quite a good deal (for fixed rate) after comparing UOB, OCBC and Maybank.

Hope the above is helpful.

wow this is really good. RHB offers me 3% fixed rate.... hmmmmm

i think i might give posb a call soon. thanks.

I just got my ID from INTRA design.. i tried calling contractors but i decide against having ah soon or yeak cos i wanted to see some prospective designs and wanted the ID to handle all the logistic stuff for me. Nevertheless the best starting point are the books, websites and etc.. to know what you want (theme ) for your house is most important. then u can work around ur selected theme for the house.

The problem for me now is tile selection... i didnt know what tiles to choose... many many patterns.. but there is only so much i can choose.

As we will not be doing much renovation, thought it might be better to engage a contractor.

Shall see :)

Hey all!

I love this thread!

We are now awaiting our 1st appointment at HDB mid November to purchase our EM in Woodlands. And because we're doing contra, we really need to get things going re. renovation wise. Just spoke to Mr Yeak and he's turned down our project to start in December as he's got way too many projects on hand. Waiting for Jason to revert on his quote. I think I am almost afraid to pengsan to see the quote as we have to do a major overhaul of the flat.

Any recommendations for reliable contractors?

Congrates on ur new home! Too bad that Yeak can't take ur project. :( Think Jason is quite good from the reviews he's getting in the forum. Maybe u can try Ho Bee too? There are a few forumners who use them too. :)

And it's never too early to contact Yeak/Soon/Jason to check with them if they are available and to "book" them first. :D

Hi asagi,

For HDB is S$100,000

For PTE is S$300,000

I was told that for this package, the arrangement is that they will provide you the FIRST letter of offer based on non-1.99% rate. Only after 3 months, they will re-issue another letter of offer stated with the 1.99% rate.

I feel strange or is it happening to yours too?

Hi,

The condition to enjoy this is to take up a mortgage insurance plan with them (thru AVIVA) - at least for the lock-in period of 3 yrs. As it is a term insurance, even if you decided to withdraw it after the 3rd yr, it's ok.

Hi to all EM home owner, sorry to hijack this thread.

I'm currently hunting for a EM.

I'm planning to have 3 units in the 2flr for all bed rooms and 3 units on the lower flr.

Just wondering if anyone manage to have 2 compressor installed in your EM?

What is the requirement like? (eg. To have the whole house rewired and change a new circuit breaker) Or HDB simply doesn't allow 2 compressor installed in a EM?

Your experience is this area is greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

(PS: I did try searching for similar post but haven't been successful is getting the answer)
