Funny ah, why they don't start the tiling in kitchen, bedrooms or toilets first? Why they start to do tiling from front door? Everyday they step in and out of the house, the front door tiles will easily get hollow. Do check the tiles especially near the front door for hollowness.

Thanks for your advice. I'll be knocking on each of the tiles to listen out for hollowness. :bangwall:

Kevin said the alignment starts from the front door...so tiling starts from there.

You check with your ID first. From what I see, they cut the tiles and make the side round to fit the pipes. The lines are too straight to be cracked

I suspect there are also lines behind the pipes. Otherwise, the tiles have holes in the centre, how to put them in to fit the pipes, unless you want to take the pipe out? haha

Ya, but his kitchen and toilets tiling works not done yet. Should start from the wet area first, then proceed from the living room. His is opposite way. Now come to think of it.... Filetofish, are you leveling your kitchen floor to the living room? If it is, then the tiling work should start from front door all the way in to the kitchen, then to bedrooms.

Yes, kitchen is level with the living room.

By the way, the existing floor tiles in my bedrooms will be overlaid with Laminate flooring.. which will level with living room too!

Did u mean u're not hacking the existing tiles in the bedrooms? Just overlaying with laminate?

Need to ensure ur existing tiles are very level then. Else the undulation will be more jialat when u just layer laminate over...

Good point... I noticed that the tiles in my MBR are in a bad condition (i.e. some tiles came off and some have popped-up).

I better check with my ID asap on what's he going to do about it...

The other 2 bedrooms look fine but I'll do a more detailed check...

When hacking the living room floor tiles, somehow it will affect the bedroom tiles as the bedroom floor tiles may be starting to become hollow. The impact caused by hacking in the living room tiles may "spread" the impact to the bedrooms, that's why you see the tiles in MBR are starting to pop up themselves. The best way is to hack everything and lay cement screed on the floor, then laminate. Otherwise, don't hack and laminate all the floorings.

I've scheduled to meet my ID tomorrow. I really hope he gives me a satisfactory response on how he's going to resolve the flooring.

This is the common bathroom. The drain at the shower area is not where I specified it to be.

I want it to be at the corner so that when I shower, I won't be stepping on it.

I've given the feedback to my ID and he said he'll get it corrected.
