Heard that if the "spine" of the original staircase is retained then it's fine. Hence the fishbone... Still hard to get approval I think. If you (or IDs) have a radical idea for your staircase, I would advise being mentally prepared for some HDB induced delays on approvals and PE requirements. Looking forward to see the design!

We are keeping the staircase, only changing the railing. Im already quite worried on HDB delaying their approval. My biggest worry is the main entrance, I hope they approved our new position of the door.

i only using the wooden tiles in the kitchen and the rest of 1st floor is homo. while upper floor will retain existing parquet.

i was tempted to use wood for the entire house but felt it would be too much "wood" as we will be using alot of wooden furniture..

ONE big sink is really useful! alternatively, you can try two medium sinks combo? i've always preferred a single bowl.. so i can't comment on the usefulness of two sink bowls.

p.s. i also find the staircase quite ugly.. :( n i don't have much ideas on it.. so might just keep it simple and change the railings.. glass is out coz my hubs think its not child safe.

Some advantages of two sinks I can think of is it serve as a temp rubbish area when preparing food or when soak/cleaning vegetable. Or during party, can filled it up with ice and throw beer inside.

Having 2 is always better than one. I used the 2nd sink for dripping my wet plates dry before transferring them to my cabinet.

Need advice...

Looking for re-upholstery for our 6yrs old sofa. In fact we are wondering if we can bring this over to our new house. It is 2.7m Long and 1.2m depth. It will definitely not able to fit the lift and have to go by the stairs, but turning radius might be a problem.

This is a customised sofa, we loved it so much we can't bear to dump it. It is made of heavy steel and come with thick form. The backing can be detachable, which will turn into a long single bed (good for occasionally visitor). It is still in a very good condition, just need a new uphos.

We have called up one sofa maker and they are not so keen to do it for us, quoted us $1,500+ and told us to buy their sofa.

Called up a few mover company, some say no problem, one say can try :bangwall:

Anybody out there have contacts for upholstery?

Anyone has a 2.7m sofa and any problem in delivery?

u r not retaining the broken marble flooring?

i must say.. i wish my kitchen walls have been hacked open.. i've been asking for an open kitchen concept. but the hubs does not approve! :bangwall:

Open Kitchen is the trend going forward. Even my mum (old fashion type) said she wants an open kitchen, she feels very sad whenever she is trap in the kitchen cooking while the rest of the family enjoying outside. So with our new house, she can come and cook, and we will all sit at the island and watch her... whahahhaha

I'm also thinking of cooking/baking activities for the children around the island, so with an open concept, there are more space to mingle around.

You still have time to convince your hubs.. heee heee :unsure:

IDs initially wanted to keep the marble until they see this photo... :o

Yes shall overlay so renov is lest disruptive.

Wow... The current condition looks good and well maintained! You r so lucky :)

I totally agreed, it's move in condition! The previous owner kept the unit quite well and they are very nice, they cleared every single item on the floor and on the wall. They even removed some build-in shelving and old poster etc.
