DIY window grill

we like louvre windows and we dont like to pay $2-3k to change all the grills + windows. so we will spray + paint all the window panes and grills in the flat. thank u wife for helping :thumbs up: . we took 1.5 weeks to spray paint it.

things we learnt:

1. first coat is good to be thin

2. buy eye goggles and mask

3. never going to do this again. in the first pic attached below... the grills were the killer. have to spray upside, downside, leftside, rightside. you cant do it one shot or the spray paint will thicken and then form puddle of paint. once sprayed then need to let it properly dry 2 hrs. then later come back again and again to continue.

4. should have sand it down first for better adhesion

First must remove the years of dust. omgwtfbbqwth

next cover the glass portion of the windows.

choice of new coat is white.

62 white cans used for windows at corridor, mbr and kitchen.

this activity can lose quite a substantial amt of fats.

tried to use paint. results not that great. the dried paint feel doesnt feel as good as the evenly spray painted metal.

too much spray until fingers covered with spray

I thought that was the finished product of the windows. Didn't expect you intend to spray white to the colors. OMG! 1.5 weeks for the whole process....

cant stand the original hdb bronze brown colour. it makes the inside of the flat really dark and moody :jail:

yar.... 1 and a half weeks because still need to tape up the windows for kitchen and mbr and then spray 3-4 layers too. if got money, we will go buy new set. want to save money then have to do it this way.

Save Money FTW!! :jammin:

Correct me if i'm wrong... normal spray paint the paint wont bite into the aluminum, can easily scratch and the paint drop off? should have sent to factory to powder coat.

you are totally right man. the big mistake was that the alu bars should have been sanded. so i had to paint 1 coat of paint to make the surface uneven.

eh ask your guy to do it la. he needs more muscles. :sport-smiley-003: :sport-smiley-003:

albert did point out something impt that i didnt stress. u must sand the surface first. and the fine metal dust is bad for health if breathe in.
