therat 18 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 had alot..U go and search.. tone of forumer complaining about cannot hack this wall , cannot hack that wall.BUTcannot hack mean cannot hack,Solid line cannot hack. That is rule.No PE dare to sign and approve it.many many years back. A HDB owner want to have bigger living hall or simi reason. Hack a wall.In the end, whole block ppl move out. B'coz.. wall crack on the void deck, not those hair line crack hor.Really crack and HDB , PE get those metal to support the wall. Then PE repair the wall and check the whole block structure. The whole block ppl only can go home after PE give green light. If I remember correctly, like the green light only come in the next day.U want to on the newspaper headline? After this case, HDB come out new rule.Renovation permit,BTW, no renovation contractor dare to hack those wall too. B'coz they will lost their license.U want to feed them?
Gymrat76 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) I think need to get your HDB approved contractor or a PE to take a look, cos bold line could mean structural beam.. if its a beam then can hack the wall to combine 2 rooms together, but cannot touch the beam. If its structural wall then cannot touch at all. Edited March 21, 2012 by Gymrat76

therat 18 Report post Posted March 22, 2012 Only de-value?I thought the whole block will declare as not-safe to stay.
albertchng 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2012 Only de-value?I thought the whole block will declare as not-safe to stay. Not safe to stay is upon discover the illegal hacking till after the settling period of the emergency repair. When PE clear this stage, the residents can go home but the value of the flat sure drop. If unlucky the hacking was done on a load bearing wall on lower level and affect the structure stability, then the block will be certified as "NOT-SAFE" to live, you can only imagine what action the HDB will take against the "going-to-die" owner and the hackers.
