getzski 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 Hi Hi..I think his is the darker shade while mine is the lighter version.Actually i had chosen the version with the texture feel but my contractor used the matt smooth version instead.. Looks will be the same but the feel which i wanted is totally different from what i am having now.. no wonder they create 2 versions.....each version has it's own lovers.....haha.actually i fell in love with the smooth version first, so i requested a bigger sample. did not like it, so then asked for a sample of the textured version, and the rest is history.....lol. getzski 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 Cont..Not in line with tiles(black tile exposed)Drawer got issue toooh dear.....this looks like the kitchen cabinet story of a friend....he also had a super sub standard job like yours, and got the carpenter to re-do like 5 times over 2 months and it was still horrible. basically if the structure is not done to specs, no modification can make it good. my friend withheld payment from the contractor, and contractor also did not pay carpenter. i heard the carpenter even call my friend to chase payment, and he told him to come and bring the carpentry back.....lol. he intends to tear it down and built new one ny the way..... I am a lover for textured feel stuffs even for my laminate flooring. I have chosen those with wood grains feel alike model too. Well, just too bad that i missed the textured version .. Got to live with the smooth matt....

I am not asking for much just need a presentable and neat finishing tahts all. She told me that she also don't know why as she doesn't faces all these issues with all other units which she is currently handling now except mine!! Anyway, i have told them i do not wish to see any more repair work and just replaced it with a new set and not to use back the same group of carpenters. My request to the above was granted !!! Wahahaha.. Btw, my contractor havent chase me for the 3rd payment yet since they know that is their fault.. Edited July 13, 2012 by Terrain1976

whitehousey 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2012 Thanks Casa.I called their boss directly and we had a chat. We will be having a one on one meet up soon too.I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm starting to realise that you can't really trust ID/contractors especially when they outsource the work because they don't have the same level of control over the quality compared to if they did it themselves. I had some issues with my carpentry too. The drawing and actual carpentry was so different and our ID said "He made changes due because of the design, if we want to build to spec hire a contractor not an ID". Made us furious and we also had to change our tone with our ID too. In the end we settled with a discount.Look at the edge of the counter. We didn't want it flushed with the wall so we could put bar stools there.

I believes you should asked for some form of compensation if they never delivered what had been promised especially when they changed the initial design without checking with you. Also, this scenerio happened to me too for mine top and bottom kitchen cabinets. At the end, i told them to remove the bottom cabinet and to redo a new set for me to match the flow of my top cabinet.

And as our ID is a personal friend, we didn't want to create too much problems and settled with a compensation. If I were in your position and saw the shoddy work you received I would also ask for no less and an overhaul.
