LOL! So you were the couple whom I met there! :yamseng:

Sorry for cutting queue... :P, but need to go to another place. So did you get most of your lightings from them?

Hey, nice seeing you there renotm!

Haha don't say that, we need more time to make decision, that's y you got to go first :)

Yeah we got most of the lightings from Catalina except bathroom lights.

Aiya! Tio bluff liao. We never notice it, seeing the table top not at workspace section, we gave up and bought two Galant top. We didn't know got discount voucher until we had our dinner. Then we walked round Ikea again, trying to find something that is $5, end up we buy more things again. But I think the cashier keyed wrong discount amount. I received $10 discount for my total payment. "Tan" tio (in hokkien)!

Wah, so lucky of you to receive $10 discount. Do share with us your purchases in IKEA.

Week 2 23/4/12

The progress of the reno is a bit slow. Today, the toilet walls are all laid with cement screed. I'm sure tomorrow they will start the tiling work as all the tiles have arrived. :thumbs up:

Did not take photo of the bathroom, when I arrived at the site it was already quite dark.

I only managed to take some photos of the tiles.

Logica Nero italian tiles for the kitchen floor

Foyer tiles - we were worried about the foyer tiles previously. During our visits to Hafary, the sales person gave us 2 sample foyer tiles - they were identical. But the display set in Hafary was a set of 4 running tones. So, today when the tiles have arrived, i laid a few of them on the floor to make sure that the tiles we received are running tone tiles - and yes they are! :dancingqueen:

Is the gold/ brown fan from Lim's Art considered industrial enough for your taste? I don't have its picture to show you. But everytime we visited kallang leisure park, my hubby will look @ the fan and wish to buy it. He said it has vintage feel while being industrial.

Hi piknik, thanks for dropping by. Do you mean something like this?

Haha, that is what i like too, but too bad hubby does not like it, he said it's not finger friendly for the kids. We don't have kids though, but we might have in the future.

Valerie, I like your foyer tiles. Look so resort-feel. Got balinese feel

Yeah we love the effect of the tiles too. But hopefully the tilers don't lay all the same colour tone tiles together, otherwise it is a waste! Should i tell them? Hmm.. I think they should have the common sense.

Don't assume workers have common sense. Actually they don't have common sense at all. It is better to inform your contractor the design you want, or lay it out and show them how you want the tiles to be laid.

Both of you are right! My contractor has just called hubby to clarify about the tiles layout. Hubby just sent him some drafts which I drew previously. He said, it is very clearly noted. I hope that means he has understood very well.

We will go check out the progress this evening.

Weekend Shopping

On Saturday, we went to Catalina Lighting at Bedok Industrial Park to buy our track lights. Recommended by fellow forumer, XTR, i think their prices are the best compared to the shops in Jalan Besar, Balestier, Geylang. Because they are the supplier. This place is actually a small warehouse, so you don't get to see those fancy lighting hanging above you. You will only get to see catalogue. Shop owner may show you the real product upon request. We were there for about 2 hours, the uncle was very patient to explain all our queries and to let us know the pros and cons of the lights we chose.

helllo... glad to know its the cheapest so far :) hope it was the receding hairline uncle who hosted you. he gives way better discount than the lady boss who will mark it up. i went 3 times and the lady boss change her quotation 2 times. only the uncle was steady in his discount.

so fun to read that u met renotm there!

yes pls, for the layout of the tiles pls tell the workers or contractor.

Thanks Topsy! We got the tiles from Hafary in Balestier Road. There are other tones of colours as well, this is the grayish range.

LOL! Yes, it was that nice uncle who served renotm and us. In fact I made an appointment with the lady, she kept asking me where I get to know her shop. She was also very helpful la, say want to email me catalogue.. but we didn't meet her that day. Maybe that's a blessing? :D:unsure:

Contractor told us next week he needs the bathroom stuff.

And yet, we still havn't bought them!

How last minute are we

This evening after work, we rushed to get the bathroom stuff

so that we can arrange the person to deliver the items on

Saturday and we can receive the items and check on the spot.

For the common toilet - I don't like this, but it is cheap and comes with 10 years warranty on the flush system
