travelpac 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2012 ok..thats a bummer (pun intended)What about stuff to bring over? Whats cheaper here compared to in sg?Singapore is generally a really expensive city to live in.I'm not too sure what's cheaper in the UK, but you can check out Court's Singapore website to check appliance's prices. Aristotle 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2012 ok..thats a bummer (pun intended)What about stuff to bring over? Whats cheaper here compared to in sg?Hey iwantto,Bodum's available at places in Singapore like Takashimaya & Tangs. I got my coffee maker for GBP60 from WMF here. Typically, Bodum's a tad cheaper than WMF. BoConcept on the other hand has got a boutique in Paragon. You could find decent European appliances in places like Tangs, Takashimaya, Robinsons and some other bits and bobs. But note that the variety could be very limited. ie. The Bodum knife block I was eyeing wasn't available so I've gotta ship it over. Having gone to the UK before, trust me, Singapore's not all that expensive. Based on the comparision I've made online and in local retails, get them from UK. Post shifting to Singapore, buying online could still be a cheaper alternative if you have friends/family living in the UK who could help ship your items to Singapore without going through a third party courier. Those haemorrhoids proved to be a big bag of wank. Leave me a tinkle if you need more info. Happy to help.
restlessfeet 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2012 If you like European designed products, it's definitely cheaper in UK. Prices in Singapore are marked up. If you are shipping a container back, it's definitely worth filling it with the things you like from UK.
iwantto 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2012 Hiya Aristotle,I might cart over an ice cream maker and the espresso machine and the french press and some other rubbery amazng stuff from bodum which is fair value I am eyeing a delonghi, its a gd pick off amazon.Given up on the krup pods machines tho they look the business.I know singapore takeaway and eating out is not expensive and its a neat little city, lived there before. But settling down for a longer term is a different kettle of fish especially with a family. We like to cook at home and are more interested in prices of products we are used to.Besides the courts website, are there any other similar shopping websites for home appliances?Takashimaya's website is informative but without much on product prices.Ta and careful with your money Greek..
