innerlight 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 Unfortunately, my Kraus sink was not the best quality either. I bought a 23" square ss. Along the bottom edge, and especially near the rounded corners, i find the a row of striations (possibly made by the machine used to create the rounded edges/corners. Not just one edge but definitely along the 2 longer edges. Do the rest of your sinks have these? It's difficult to photograph. It can't be felt with your finger but i put my sink on the baywindow and from my standing height, i can see these striations without having to bend over my sink to see them. So that bugs me.Next there are some mark spots at one corner of the sink. I will attach pix shortly. And a tiny black scratch? line? along one of the lines leading to the drainage hole. Maybe i kena a lemon sink.hmmm... did all your sinks have such details too? Or am i being ultra fussy?
innerlight 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Black dots. You can also see the rough workmanship of the rounded corner (to me). The diagonal corner is even worse (but i didn't take pix anymore cos my heart sank literally.) Very obvious striations that stare back at you and also, black dots that can't be removed.More black specksBlack line/scratch? innerlight 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Since the sink is meant to be undermounted, i think it's better to return the sink and not to get a replacement fr. Amazon , rather than risk it. Will look for a good stainless steel sink in SG instead. Luckily, my flooring was cleared up today and i had the chance to lay everything out to check.Any leads where I can go to ? Good quality stainless steel sink with the same price tag?I also ordered a kohler sink and it's going to be delivered tomo. Also ordered fr. Amazon. Now i'm worried. hope it will turn out good. The construction of the sink is otherwise good enough for me (for the price paid). Do they take returns like this? Don't you have to pay for freight cost back?Cheers,

However, they are pricier...Franke sinks also carried by asia excel marketing at imm but not many models on display, comes in a sink + kitchen tap package, as far as I saw about a month back. My friend loves her Franke sink. I find Blanco ok only, and they don't have the size I want - Hoe Kee.I also saw about 2 months back this bunch of sinks (dun remember name liow), carried by Ideal bathrooms at Balestier. Apparently, they're just introducing them into Singapore, European made (dun remember country) and the price was in the $200+ range. Can go and take a look. But after exploring the freight cost(huge fuel additional charge) back, it's not tenable to send it back. Nett nett i'm better off accepting this sink and sell it off at a discounted price. Message to anyone who's interested - price is very negotiable. just pm me.

Will check out Ideal bathrooms, balestiar. I saw an ad by KHK for a 2 day pre-stocktake sale. hope you had seen it too. Wanted to go but didn't and went to hemsley's sale for wash basins instead. I had liked Franke initially but it's China made. And i have already got a kitchen faucet , so the package deal is not as attractive. Yes, the price-friendly SS blanco sinks are usually the round typical ones , which are not what i'm looking for. I'm going to check out Hafele's square sink/s which are in $400 range, German made, 304 SS quality and 1.2mm (similar to 16 gauge). what to do? haiz.... Sygnur 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Im sorry to know that the kraus sink u received wasnt well made... seeing the pictures u posted pains my heart. That's the risk we all take when ordering online, cant touch, want to return will be hassle too...Hope u'll find better sink that fits ur needs. Not sure if rubine is good, or reginox sink.. Maybe can check those two brands too.Unfortunately, my Kraus sink was not the best quality either. I bought a 23" square ss. Sigh ... Went to see lights and didn't have the time to go there. Actually hor, China made or not is ok - Hansgrohe/Kohler are also made in China but quality is fine for their made in china ranges.Ahh, if you go see Hafele's, let me know how that goes. I've never come across that brand but I'm open-minded.

Can go and take a look.Four years ago, I've bought my Franke sink from Asia Excel - but @ Balestier Rd. I've looked first at all shops in IMM and then gone to Balestier. I wanted 1+1/2 bowl (one big + one small) and here were not so many brands who carried that model at that time. Anyway, found that the same Franke model is cheaper in Asia Excell @ Balestier than in their shop @ IMM. When I asked how that can be cos that is the same company and the same model so price should be equal, they said that is cos of higher rent of shop space at IMM (???????). Anyway, just to let you know......Oh, yeah, and Balestier had a much more sinks on display that their shop at IMM. innerlight 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) Updates :- Following my ranting on renotalk, i emailed Amazon a short msg on my disappointment that they don't even allow replacements given that the sink is flawed and the cost of freight back to US from SG which equals the cost of me buying the sink from them. I think my utter resignation in the entire matter , sort of made an impression on them. Before I email to Amazon, i had already decided to cancel off the refund request and try to sell the sink or if not, donate to charity. At least i don't need to worry about sending the sink back.- Went to recce hoekee and hafele. I find that hk's round edge , normal stainless steel sinks have a better finish but kraus's sink in terms of gauge might still be more sturdy. If I get the same quality as per hafele's showroom at kaki bukit, i have no complaints. It's the same size as kraus , but i think the depth is shallower but sufficient. S$469(gst included, german made)- My second Amazon ordered kohler sink arrived. Quite sure it's china made but it's lovely! The external Amazon box was squashed and dodgy but the inner kohler box was sturdy enough. I also ordered a pop-up drain which is china- made, quality is not so good. Have to be prepared for problems. But the sink's quality is good. Phew!- I did a second review of the sink incase i was queen of neurosis during the first review. Rubbed (not scratching) very hard at the blackspecks and managed to remove all(ifnot most) except for one visible one left. Scratch was also removed. But the horrible corners/striations are still all there of course. The inner sides of the sink (which anyone using the sink, or cleaning it will come in contact with, will definitely feel) feels rough. Unlike the sink floor with the drainage hole which is smooth (like normal sinks should feel) . Rough as in when they didn't do a through job in smoothing the steel surface. So you will feel some pricks on your hands as you run your hands across. Won't cut your hand (i think), but can definitely be felt. Checked the bottom and it had a tiny epoxy scratch scraped off its base(can see metal base). I can live with this cos' it's not in my face but not the striatons, horrible corners and prickly sides. So, i am not using this sink.this pix shows the small spot i can't remove (without further chemical? help) and the obvious row of striations running the longer inner bottom edge. - Went home and received an Amazon reply. They are willing to refund and also replace with another kraus sink (but no stocks now and i need to confirm if i wish so). So they will do a refund and recharge of the same amount to my credit card. Also, they are wiling to pay for the most economical freight for me to send the sink back to them. Very very decent of them i must say. I feedback the latest status on the sink(black specks/scratch removed) and that to me, it's still a flawed product(as above) and leave to them to confirm if their offer remains to refund and pay for my freight back to them. If they are, i'll send it back. Of cos' it's a no go on the 2nd kraus. Too old to take this amt of stress and risk. See what they say first...
