New Western Flat Renovation Progress!

Recommended Posts

The spare room is kept empty for prayer, games, etc.

Baby blue walls with greyish wardrobes, and nothing else. :)

Did I mess up matching these 2 colours? I didn't want my ID to have much say in this room so yup he did not get much chance to provide feedback... :P

Last but definitely not the least, I would like to provide some feedback about my ID.

This Roy Tan from IR Design...

I was a little skeptical at first cos he did not have a showroom like those bigger ID firms... But well I did a little homework on him and with the recommendation of my friend, I decided to go with him because I was assured of the quality after exploring my friend's house + seeing his reasonable quotation.

Design Process

OK Roy is not those arty-farty designers who conjure very unique and out of the norm designs. He is more of a practical, clean, receptive person and wants the best for your house in terms of its use, not just the looks alone. More importantly, he is willing to spend time looking at our proposed theme and features to bring out the "feel" that we want. He is definitely receptive when it comes to ideas yet is bold to point out when we stray on the wrong track. Really appreciate him for this...

Works Process

No renovation is perfect. There are times minor things require touch ups and due to my busy schedule, little hiccups and delays do occur. Roy is always patient and willing to correct the wrong. In fact, I got to trust him so much I eventually told my air-con supplier to liaise directly with him - the installation of air con was done without my supervision and I was happily attending to office needs instead. More importantly, the quality is there as well. The handicraft, worksmanship of the parquet flooring, laminates, mounting of granite, mirrors, etc.

After sales

I told Roy that I won't be moving in till late October, of which if there are other small defects or issues arising after I moved in, I would only get to know them 6 months later. He would always bring his hand to his ear and say "Call me". Well I hope I don't have to call him again, and in the event I do, I think he would pick up my call... But well for this area, only time can tell! :) :)

Overall rating

I'd give this chap a 9/10. Responsive, not pushy with sales or ideas, most importantly not out to axe newbies like me... He even explained to me after he collected his final payment that the angle of the edges of the cabinet door has to be precise in order for a good grip when opening those cabinets...

Disclaimer

I might not get back to this post as often as I'd like to, but if you have comments/queries/whatever, please feel free to drop me an email - sporzboi@yahoo.com. I'd reply asap... I hope to provide a little help back to this community as much as I had received guidance from predecessors. To all renovators out there, good luck and hope you have an even better renovation than me! Cheers! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Hi the cushion seat you got your ID to do for you? How muc did he qoute you mind to pm me?

I think it look really great and match with your home theme

Sorry folks I was so busy with work! My renovation was completed about a week ago but due to work exigencies, I did not have time to post till now - my apologies!

I'll post pictures in upcoming few replies. They are not exactly well taken cos I am an idiot when it comes to photography, but I hope they can still be of help to you!

Front door: This is what you see as you step into the house, the left side seemed a little "cut-off" as the tinted mirror at the side was reflecting against cushion seattee...
