New Western Flat Renovation Progress!

Recommended Posts

4-room flat, new, went through some research and consideration on who to get as ID, just like what everyone will do.

Decided on Roy Tan from IR Design. He was recommended by a friend and I visited friend's house to convince myself of the quality. Heard he was responsible, we shall see...

Below is the floor plan, standard 4-room flat, only the kitchen and toilet floors + walls are done up. Oh and the doors too!

OK there are lots of correspondences prior to this such as discussing the electrical, the design of the house, the functions, the feature walls, the lightings, tiles selection......

I shall not bore you with these... The first works that my ID did was to make me get the aircon.

For that I'll need a 2-part installation. First comes the piping and insulation; Compressor and Wall Units can come in later.

Did my research again, decided to get Mitsubishi Heavy Industries from Hong Tar Engineering - recommended by another friend. Kristine from Hong Tar was very friendly and even checked on the team which installed for my friend and sent the same team down. Really thoughtful! Below are pictures of a job well done, at least for the first part of installation.

My ID Roy proceeded with electrical for next 2 days right after the air con pipings were ready. Well, electrical is always boring when it's work in progress, but I shall see how Roy fixes all these up together later...

Some pictures to see how the house looks like - I personally think it looks like the gallows. Upcoming 2 days will be a period of rest; will update this thread once I get the false ceilings up!

Referring to the last picture: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/camelkick/IMG_1489.jpg , can advise what is the white piping for ? is it for the open net?

Thanks.

Sorry folks I was so busy with work! My renovation was completed about a week ago but due to work exigencies, I did not have time to post till now - my apologies!

I'll post pictures in upcoming few replies. They are not exactly well taken cos I am an idiot when it comes to photography, but I hope they can still be of help to you!

Front door: This is what you see as you step into the house, the left side seemed a little "cut-off" as the tinted mirror at the side was reflecting against cushion seattee...

These are some of the shots that I took of the "lobby" area at the entrance to the house... Closet is shoe cabinet (duh!) :)

I played with the lightings in the house to bring out different effects...

This is the living room, with or without the chandelier lighting... :)

Basically I'd just like to illustrate the how the design looks like without furniture first - I can always add more pictures after the furniture comes in if you guys want it... :o

The common bathroom... Again just playing around with the lightings... :)

The design of this bathroom is to share a common theme with the living room, so the "metallic" black feel brings out a modern look consistent with the impression of the living room (I hope).

And please forgive the mop and the towel hanging there and reflected by the mirror - It is the rag that I was cleaning the house with and I forgot to remove it till it was too late... :P

Alright the Master Bedroom...

We wanted the MBR to have a cosy, homely feel, yet having the option to brighten up when needed. I'll just show you the "warm" look without the cove lights. :)

Oh and the last picture is to thank my ID Roy for adding in the feature of "lightings in air-plane" concept, so that wifey can get to sleep with minimal light if I want to carry on reading some stuff, vice versa...

Pls forgive me if the photos look slightly slanted - I am really a lousy photographer! :(

The study room! The study room was designed to have flashy and bright colours so that I will not fall asleep should I need to study or work late... It will hence share a similar modern look as the living room but carry a different set of colour theme... :D

And I actually wanted to swap the orange with black but I guess I was too bold and I guess a black base with orange will be better than orange base with black... Thanks to wifey and ID Roy to quickly point this out... :)

The black panel to the left is actually my wardrobe, nothing spectacular to warrant more shots...

The concrete ledge at the window bay was extended slightly and converted into a seattee area for the overly hardworking to lie down and have a rest should the going gets tough... :P

The wall that is on the opposite side of the study area...

The kitchen carries a similar colour scheme with the study room for the 2 main reasons.

1. I don't want to get bored in the kitchen and fall asleep and set it aflame! :o

2. I like this colour scheme (duh again!) :P

Pls forgive me again for the barang barang (esp the pail in the laundry area which is really an eyesore!) that I was too tired and lazy to remove.
