5-Room Renovation In East

Recommended Posts

The MBR bathroom went through the most thought because it is relatively a small area with little room to play with ideas. We needed to achieve a modern and clean look and have enough storage space to house toiletries etc as this is the key to achieving a somewhat showroom state.

Again to walk my viewers through the journey:

When I started out drawing the design, hiding the PVC pipes while giving access to it and maximising storage was a real challenge.

This is after about 70% of the cabinetry is up. Left with stuff like the table top, sink, tap, mirror etc... See below for EVEN MORE storage space... :dancingqueen:

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

I like your bathroom cos u have utilized the space with built in cabinets. U also managed to conceal the pipes.

I realize the space between the tall cabinet and the WC is very small or maybe I m wrong. I m just concern about the legs hitting against the sharp corner of the tall cabinet base.

Do u have the habit to keep the toilet floor dry all the time?

Water leakage can be quite serious. It is better to have it fixed before the water seep into the carpentry works. I think the hanging light might be too heavy, hope it won't drop and create damage to the false ceiling.

I thought this was what the common toilet was like before reno. Darnie didn't like the exposed pipes and mirror. She had wanted a clean, bright and modern look :)

I feel that having cabinets in the toilet makes the place smaller and cramp.

Ever since the tiling was done up, progress has been picking up. There are troubleshootings to attend to everyday. That's the problem in handling a renovation yourself. You got yourself to hold responsible for, not the ID, not so much the contractor. To get things done up properly, you need to pay attention to every detail and get your contractor to ratify soonest possible. :help:

Just last night, i made a visit to the apartment and in the silence of the night i discovered leakages at 3 points along the freshly put up piping. :curse:

Firstly, at the newly installed kitchen sink, drips are leaking at the old joint:

photo-71.jpg

Second, at the MBR WC, the joint supplying the water is leaking pretty badly. To the point the floor will stay wet through the day when everywhere else has dried up:

photo-73.jpg

Lastly, the 2 water supply joint to the rainshower is leaking with a constant flow!!!! :curse:

A little upset when I asked my contractor to have someone over this morning to fix it up before carpentry work starts, nothing happend. He was there but said its a small thing. I'm not sure if I am supposed to be comforted by it. I am holding him responsible for this. Because I am not going to pay him his last installment if nothing gets done. 8|

Anyone knows if this is a big problem? can it be fixed up quickly???????? :help::help:

His electricians were here to start work today. Was told that everything would be done up in one-day. So we took leave today to monitor and advise on the electrical wiring requirements. Work started in the morning installing some lights. We left to purchase new switches and some lightings and when we returned. They left. Called dear contractor and he mentions they have left for Malaysia. :furious: Good one man.

love your toilet tiles :):good:

your contractor left the pipe leaking and left??.... shouldn't they at least off the water supply before leaving?

Thanks! Agree that it is tighter than usual. Its a sacrifice for the aesthetics. But it is kinda still wide enough not to feel too cramped up and so far the corner has not posed any problems.... phew... lets hope it keeps that way! and oh yah - i think it is best to keep flooring dry at all times to prevent the humidity and mould from growing?

I thought so too! but guess it is too late now. The ceiling has been patched. I only pray and hope it stays strong the way it is.

Me too. I like the design and color of the tiles. Got resort feel

HAhaha. interesting opinions here. Agree it has the resort look. But slates are good at trapping pools of water on each slate. Its terrible in my opinion to use it for wet toilet. Take note this common toilet has no shower screen due to its configuration. It is a fully wet toilet. So yah, clean tiles will be better off... :sport-smiley-018:

OK! The electical works are about done over the weekend. Let me quickly do an update before turning in.

For a start, a look at the lighted TV-console in the MBR:

It works very well for ambient lighting when not watching on the TV. :thumbs up:

Lighted up by 2-sets of 2X4Ft T-5 for top and bottom row. The switches are hidden in the left cabinet.
