Hi Ong,

I am going to Shanghai next week and thinking I might check out the cams while there coz the Foxcam F18910W was selling at $125 at the PC show and the prices I saw on taobao for this model is about 400 rmb. But goodness, I just spent a good 30 minutes trying to find out the shops in Shanghai that carry this product without success. Guess I should just hit the IT Malls in Shanghai?

U shld order from tb n send it to ur hotel...no harm gg to the malls but u run the risk of bot being able to get one at that price point....then it boils down to whether u hv enuf time for the tb seller to ship to u...unless seller is in sh,u need to factor about 3-5 days lead time...

Happy shopping!

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Hi hi

Thanks for the tips!

I will be there for 6 days, tagging along my ex colleague who is going there for a business trip. Just asked her to check with her colleagues in Shanghai if it can be bought from the shop for the price listed on tb, or if they can help me to order from tb.

My friend just purchased a five room resale flat and I have been poisoning her with links from rt. Now she is keen to explore buying from tb and amazon, and we will have fun doing our research and shopping while there besides meeting up with our friends! I will bring along a 85x45cm sofa cushion cover to source for fabric and hopefully get it custom make while there (shanghai is well known for tailoring job), or my friend can help me bring back during her next visit.

ask her colleagues to tell you where the wholesale markets are - they are usually dedicated for each purpose i.e. one for clothes, one for houseware etc...these are either the actual TB store owners or the suppliers to the TB online stores so the prices there are very good but need to bargain...

haven't been to SH for a while but the one at 科技馆 sells all the cheong stuff... :notti:

I been to shanghai a dozen time for work but my last visit was 8 years ago so lost touch liao :) spent a month staying at my shanghainese colleague apartment. I wonder if the 雪菜包near her MIL place still taste as yummy and if I dare to eat now.

My friend is a savvy shopper and a good bargainer, I will leave the bargaining to her.

err for the cam I hope I dont end up buying a cheong one leh

Wah... Bought a D600 ah?!!? How's the camera performance? Er, with D600, your equipment has to be good, if not flaw of the lens will be easily pinpoint out by the cam body... :bleah:

bought it to photograph my baby. have a old D90. Bought d600 after baby delivered. Cos can take better HD video.

ok la. i only use 50mm f1.8 and a 24-120mm F4 (this is general purpose for travel)

I'm not a amateur photographer. Just someone who wants to take nicer pics of my family haha :sport-smiley-018:

i think kim has a d600...i'm still using a d200 but i shoot a combination of raw + jpeg fine...

d200 is cool. James Balog used them to shoot the timelapses seen in "Chasing Ice". Dam hardy, constantly being exposed to subzero temperatures (albeit within a large case).

I'm using D700. Bought 2nd hand cos no money left after too much shopping in Amazon... Recently bought a 2nd hand 24mm F2.8 AFD from Amazon too. Local 2nd hand price cannot make it la... Got some accessories a few days ago from Amazon.

I'm preparing for a Tibet cum Everest trip coming Aug so I want to get all my gears ready.

Now I'm in a dilemma whether to get another Nikon 16-35 F4 or a 24-70 F2.8 for the trip. Both lens 2nd hand price still so high...

Hi kim,
Saw that you bought aeron chair for your house, do you buy any mat to protect your floor? I was told that the wheel from aeron might scratch the floor over time. Hmm..

Hi wisann, I did not. I actually thought of buying the clear plastic floor protector from Ikea one time but decided that my laminate should be able to withstand the wheel....

mine has been with me to harbin (-20 to -30 deg C) as well as in the gobi/taklamakan desert ... and everything in between... been very reliable so far :thumbs up:

the only thing about it is that it's pretty heavy with my 18-200mm :bleah:

why didn't u just get a 24-70 f2.8 straight? my friend has that. it's good, just bit too heavy for me (sometimes my wife takes photos for me also).

i compromised and bought a 24-120 f4 new. Cos i want VR... haha i have shaky hands.
