Leaking Water Heater

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a Rheem 38L vertical water heater in my bathroom (appr 8 years old) and recently it has been leaking water thru the evacuation pipe.

The leaking starts after the water heater has been switched on for some time (>10min) and does not stop when I switch off the heater and/or use hot water.

In the past it was just dripping, but now it is really flowing significantly. The dripping would sometimes stop by itself after few days.

Does this necessarily mean that the heater is broken and needs to be replaced, or could it be that there is a problem with a relief valve or smtg like that?

Thanks in advance for your help.
