ahlipz 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) Day 6I went down to my new house, not expecting any great progress and need to speak to contractor on the gas heater water pipes. She was telling me that the water pipes will run around the top of my common toilet. She was recommending storage or instant heater die to the lack of unsightly pipes. Sigh, still deciding whether to get a dryer coz wifey wants a top load washing machine. Gas heater will be at one end of the service yard while the dryer will be at the other end. Service yard will be like a pacman maze. I realised that the subways tiles do take a long period to be overlaid. Quite happy with the result although it is only half done. Common Toilet Overlaying of tiles settledMaster Bedroom Toilet , half done for the subway tilesPlastering (Making good the hack walls between MBR and 2nd common room)There are a few comments about the toilet flooring and deciding whether to get ID to overlay the floors. Although the tile is anti-slip but it is not easy to clean Edited April 22, 2012 by ahlipz
pinkwhale 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 What do u mean by water pipe will run around ur common room? For aircon? Or u mean for ur storage heater/shower?
ahlipz 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 What do u mean by water pipe will run around ur common room? For aircon? Or u mean for ur storage heater/shower?Pinkwhale, Sorry for the confusion. I will be installing a gas heater at the service yard. The water pipings will run at the top of the common toilet, making them unsightly. I'm not too keen on storage due to waiting time and for instant, I'm worried about the water pressure.I'm deciding on gas dryer too but it will be at the other side of my service yard, away from the heater. This will meanmore gas pipes but at the service yard.

ahlipz 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 I like the way your ID design your toilet tiles. Got a feeling like walking into another dimension or entering into space. Love this feel. Thanks, ayazumiThink I was poisoned by this subway tiles when I was surfing for renovation ideas. My ID new office is geared towards Industrial theme. His toilet is using the huge grey tiles but it was way too expensive to use it for all 4 walls plus the fact that the toilet will be very dark.So I told him to use subway tiles and yes, he confirmed that this combination can work. (in his professional opinion) I am thinking of using black glout lines for the subway tiles. It is making me drool The white glout line is .... well, simpleIt will look like this but I do have a grey featured wall For those wanting subway tiles but in a louder colour such as red!Mamma-mia! Valerie Low 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 I can't wait for my subway tiles to be up too! Those photos are really inspiring. I think subway tiles best match with black and white mosaic floor tiles - but hubby forbids me to choose mosaics as floor tile as they are not easy to maintain. The black grout lines give a more distinctive brick-wall effect. It looks good too and i suppose it will be easier to maintain in the long run. Because if use white grout line, dirt and dust will accumulate and slowly contaminate the grout line. But i still love white grout line - so pure and clean! So like me!Found 2 subway tile lovers in renotalk..Let me poison you with mosaics. Wondering if my ID is okay to do this.I guess that he would prefer me to use screed cement instead but wifey is not into this industrial theme. She would love a resort hotel but doubt can maintain it in the long run.Honeycomb design... Very familiar, right? If you have read through T-Blog, someone here has done it in a similar fashion. ayazumi 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2012 Ahhh... but I still prefer red subway tiles. I like white color too, but not in toilets. I don't like to spend too much time cleaning the toilets.

Guess white brick tile is really in nowsday. Even my contractor is also puzzled why suddenly so popular...
pinkwhale 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2012 Actually subway tiles lovers not only 2.. So many in renotalk, just some of them maybe not so active. Bigbag uses the honeycomb for her floor too.. But too bad she is not sharing any further, she was the only one I know at that time also using honeycomb.. If I have the budget I also want to overlay my toilet wall to subway tiles.. My take between the grout line color is use black one.. Cos since u use that dirty look tiles for the feature then u can complete the whole look with black grout line for subway tiles if not ur subway is way too white. Like very clean vs dirty look feature and when the subway becomes not so clean in the long run that vs feel is gone..
ahlipz 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2012 Another 2 more subway tiles lovers. My tiler was telling me that the larger subway tiles are much popular than the smaller sizes. I was referring to Pinkwhale I-blog coz she was using honeycomb mosaics tiles for her vanity top. Just confirmed with ID that will be using grey grout line instead of black. I figured this is to match the grey tiles. Waiting for ID to check if there is a need to overlay toilet flooring.
ahlipz 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2012 Day 7No pics coz contractor forgot to snap pictures. Only tiling work is in progress.1st hiccup... Contractor was asking about air con installation. I had called Gain City 2 weeks ago and they can do installation the following day. However, renovation has not started, so I did not fix an appointment. Till todate, I was told that the earliest installation is on 7th May. My contractor also coz cannot do trunking and painting. So I told the Gain city staff to chop chop find one day this week for me if another cancel their installation.
