I'm just wondering isn't under-mount more hygienic? But I do agree that the blanco sink looks better if it is top-mount.

taichipanda 3 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 Hihi.. this is my first time dropping by your blog. I'm just wondering isn't under-mount more hygienic? But I do agree that the blanco sink looks better if it is top-mount.There is a very bad thing about Blanco sink, if you cook often, after a few months, there will be sticky residue on the side wall that cannot be easily clean off, if under-mount, there is simply no way to change the sink. Doing top-mount you can still change the sink to something stainless steel of similar size.
thedottyness 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 Hihi.. this is my first time dropping by your blog. I'm just wondering isn't under-mount more hygienic? But I do agree that the blanco sink looks better if it is top-mount.Undermount sink will have gap btwn ur counter top and sink where water can seep in and mould will grow. Unless you cement ur sink in... Flush with ur counter top den water seepage problem might be solved. However mould STILL can grow over time in any gaps u have. Then, if u are very concern about hygiene won't you want to be able to change your sink?? ^^ then if it's cemented in or under mounted, how to change? Break up the entire sink area?If I don't like the blanco sink, my lost is only 555 (price of the sink n tap). Not the entire area. I hope this explanation helps. ^^
taichipanda 3 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 Top-mount sink is still the most popular. There is this brand that Hensley used to carry a decade ago but dont know why they stop it. Simply love their top-mount sinks... Suter Inox AG.
