2+3 - Our 2Nd Home

Recommended Posts

wahh.. thank you thank you for all the compliments.. :P :P :P

the real test will be the final look of the house since we didn't use ID or even a contractor that can design..

as we jokingly call our contractor.. designer beng.

i must say its very stressful to DIY but yet quite fun to do so on our own.

Electrical Works in progress...

We decided to go with the electrician we used 5 yrs ago.. He does an AMAZING job. He helped a young couple like us 5 yrs back.. and was really wonderful in helping us when our contractor screwed us 5 yrs ago. So no regrets... and this time round, he is STILL helping us willingly even without us using his ID contact. :thumbs up:

He is also... very OCD. I seem to like all my OCD subcons~ ROFL. Mind you, I am NOT doing an industrial/scandinavian look.. The black trunking will be hidden away by false ceiling but its still laid in an orderly grid manner..

He helped us sourced for whatever my contractor couldn't provide at top quality.. One of the jobs my contractor wasn't willing to do was plastering.. as it would delay our handover date. So he helped us sourced for someone who would still deliver on time. XD

And this is one of his OCD markings..

Day #10

Of all the heart attacks my contractor provide, today was one that I cannot accept..

He wanted to undermount and flush my beautiful blanco sink.. :furious:

when I specifically want to TOP MOUNT.. I know it will be impossible for me to change to undermount on a later date.. but at least I can change sink right?!?!?! OMG!

*chases the contractor around and 8| 8| 8| 8| 8| *

Great to know that u have a good electrician. :)

Was plastering in your contract? Or u just added on? Is your plastering massive? I remembered I had to add abt 3k+ to plaster the whole place coz my wife cannot tahan the "pimples" on the walls and ceiling. Haha :)

Ya it's that price. What I understand it's tedious manual work that's why so expensive.

We told our contractor from the start we wanted it then seems like he forgot. When we mention again he say will delay 7-10days!!! We wanted to give it up when our electrician help us ask.

Downside is you need to arrange such that works doesn't clash if you dont want delay.

guess that's why our contractor say will have delay. It's easier to do work in phases than concurrently.

Haha he is very meticulous indeed. First look, without reading what you have written, I actually thought the trunking is going to be left visible that's why so neat.

Love these tiles!

From what you see of the laid tiles first hand, do you think it will be suitable for the living area?

Did you get coloured grouting to match the tiles?

I've been at the tile shop a few times just to "bio" these tiles but they are so expensive!

Definitely! The effect of these tiles will be better in larger areas. My kitchen is too small to actually have the effect intended for these tiles.

Grouting will match accordingly if I am not mistaken.

Ya. The only con of these tiles are that they actually cost more than real timber strips.

One word: Gorgeous!

Can these tiles be washed as with other kitchen tiles?
