thedottyness 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 (edited) 3x of the essential toilet paper holder2x of the essential towel ring...and of course the pink rainshower head!some of the items were definitely splurges.. (or rather by buying this brand itself, it is already a splurge!) haha! but we felt it was worth it.. as this is our 2nd home, we found thru experience that quality matters in the long run.do grab some grohe stuff if your budget allows. we did overshot the toilet accessories budget a little.. only because we've toned down on the a/c budget.anyways, to answer how much the pink "donut" cost us. it is $143.50 before 7% gst. Good purchase. I hinted hubby to go Grohe sales, but got rejectedYou should go! If Grohe after discount is equal or just slightly more expensive than no-brand fixtures, think it makes sense to buy Grohe. For stuff that are fixed in place AND used daily, it makes sense to invest in quality to avoid future problems. Plus fixtures are really used multiple times daily so it's worth spending a bit more. ayazumi 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2012 Hubby still say nono. We lack of one shower for the common toilet, and he feels that no point getting a good shower for common toilet since we won't be using it and leaving it in common toilet becomes white elephant. We lack of one shower for the common toilet, and he feels that no point getting a good shower for common toilet since we won't be using it and leaving it in common toilet becomes white elephant. My colleague did that for his common bathroom and he say it looks tarnished after 1-2 years and the mechanism is not as smooth even thou barely anyone uses it. His master bathroom one still looks and functions brand new.. IMHO, i rather not save a few bucks now to trouble myself to get a replacement in a few years. there are plenty of better made brands that a just slightly more expensive than the generic taiwan/china stuff. can take a look at hoe kee also, we got our stuff there for the first house and the mixers and taps still looks and works like new.. Plus fixtures are really used multiple times daily so it's worth spending a bit more.with THREE toilets and a BIG family, it makes really good sense to install quality stuff than keep replacing it. my hubs (marble) is annoyed with the times that he has to replace some of the cheap stuff with bought for the first house. =P we got the better brand mixer from hoe kee 5 yrs ago. no problems on that. on the other hand, the cheap toilet accessories didn't last really long. it started to die one by one.. if you are really on a budget, try to weigh ur priorities. like us, we don't plan to put in fancy lighting nor putting in a/c for the 1st lvl.. so that free up our budget to put in more quality stuff for other parts of the house.i hope this helps for 1st timer home owners..
