Kobelala 8 Report post Posted April 12, 2012 More than 2yrs of Frustrations!!9 attempts at both BTOs and sales of balance flats all failed! My wife and I are both Singapore citizens. Both of our families are living in Ang Mo Kio. Despite 2 attempts to talk to our MPs on our dire situation, we were still unable to get a flat. On Dec'11 after our last attempt in the sales of balance flat, we agreed that we had enough as we cannot simply keep applying for BTOs and hope for the best considering the 3-4yrs time lapse for the flat to be ready. We do not have much alternative than to look into the resale market, although we are quite hesistant as we are a young couple and not cash rich. Until now I still don't understand how they allocate the BTOs.... Wife n me also spent more than 2 years paying HDB $10 every 2 months or so in hope to secure a nice number to buy a pigeonhole.... both of us are born n breed in Singapore.... Anyway good move geneboi and congrats on being a home owner....

I ganna rejected by HDB so many times until my feelings became numb when I open so many letters. Anyway I just saw your T-blog and assume that you are currently better off with a EM. Valerie Low 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2012 Congrats! Our floor plans are similar. I didn't know the kitchen can accommodate an island! That's very nice. Looking forward to seeing your updates.

Looking forward to seeing your updates.Hahaha.. I also don't know too. The 3D designs look too real to believe. Our kitchen layout is quite long and narrow. If we build an island in the centre of the kitchen, I wonder how to walk. If guests gather in the kitchen and dine together, they will block the passage way for the other person going to the common toilet. Another thing is that, with the island, maybe the ID intends to make the island nearer to the left side (using our floor plan), and make more space to the right. But won't it be too squeezy when cooking? As my kitchen cabinet base is built up, I can see the L-end already blocking quite a fair bit of space in the kitchen. Also, from the 3D photo, it is impossible for us to look at the island from that view unless we hack away the wall between the MBR and kitchen. Actually, the more i see my house, the more i feel it is getting smaller? Edited April 15, 2012 by ValerieLow

Actually, the more i see my house, the more i feel it is getting smaller? We did have this similar concern from the initial discussions but the ID has assured us that there will be ample space to walk. I will definitely be going through this again during the actual measurements. Nevertheless guess I can only let u girls know the end results in a few months time when everything is completed. geneboi 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2012 29/Apr/2012Today is the final inspection day. My wife and I were slightly worried if there may be any hiccups. Nevertheless we were very happy that the sellers had totally vacanted the place! The seller also handed over the keys to the flat (3 sets) in anticipation for the 2nd HDB appointment tomorrow.30/Apr/2012Completed the 2nd HDB appointment. We paid extra for the comprehensive fire insurance coverage, not sure if many others do that as well? Off we go to our new house as official owners for the "Opening door ceremony"! After completing, we locked the gate with an extra padlock we just bought for added security measures.Official Owners!!Opening Door Ceremony

magixcat 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2012 Hi Genoboi,Congrats to you. I just bought a place in the same blk too. 3room unit on the high floor. Very spacious 3room unit. I wanted something different as I dislike units on long corridor and I found this unit with door to door privacy. Unbelievable..spacious 3NG with door to door.
