greengardn 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 Hi, I will be collecting the keys to my 4-rm HDB Premium Flat in April and it comes with timber flooring for all 3 bedrooms. I'm guessing it will be the standard brown colour. Is there any way it can be treated to change the colour - either to a dark blackish-brown, or greyish-white? Any contacts for companies that can do this, and rough cost? Thanks!
sharebear 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 i am also looking for that as well. Don't like the existing reddish brown color, but haven't really ask any timber flooring company about it. Only asked a few IDs and they just say can just varnish it, but the color won't change much.. more like clear gloss.. so I sort of gave up looking. let me know if you find any. morganwu 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 to darken the wood, you can sand off the existing clear coating and apply dye/stain. then apply a new clear coat and you will get a darker color.to lighten the wood, the only way is to bleach it. you cannot dye it white as the original color will still show. you may bleach it then dye it a color lighter than its original wood color. but oily timber like burmese teak is not suitable for this method as the natural oils tend to leach out and spoil the look.
