My Builders Quotes Too High! Please Recommend Yours.

Hi,

I am in the midst of planning for the addition of a small 2 storey "annexe" which will be built next to my old single storey semi-D, plus some A&A work on the original house.

With a budget of 300K, I have delegated the design process as well and tendering and submissions to a friend who is also a very capable architectural technologist who runs his own design firm, having completed some projects of similar size and finishings at similar budgets.

At the start of the process, the budget of was seen as feasible, based on S$2800 PSM. My new proposed "annexe" is about 100SQM plus some A&A work on the original house

However, we are now at the tendering process and the few builders so far are coming up with astronomical quotes ( of double or more! ) – One fellow quoted S$800k!!

It seems builders are all too busy to quote realistically

I would very much appreciate any of your reasonable builders contacts so that I can email them my proposed renovation drawings and job list

From your description, a 300k budget sounds too low for a new Annex and some A&A work on the original house. You might need to manage your expectation. you can try the list of builders that I have approached or you can PM me for it if you are interested.
