Thank you Takeyu. The GSN guy that visited my flat last weekend has suggested a quite nice route for aircon piping, to minimize the exposé trunking. Some parts could even put a bit of slanted angle to camouflage it like a shelf on the wall.. But due to his price, I was too shocked to realize these details. Seems like the prices of electrical things have increased after CNY. Hum...

Talking on radiation, I think our handphone produces even more

Everything can have radiation. Previously I wanted to get a day-bed from Ikea for my daughter, it has a hidden rack to put extra mattress so I thought my mom could share the room with my daughter when she comes to visit us for a few days..then a billy bookcase from ikea for study room to store our book collection. But my dear hubby was too worried abt the MDF-chemical stuff that cause cancer, so he looked at product details and they r either all fiberboard or mixed solid wood with fiberboard which is in MDF family range... ---> I told him that every other furnitures also uses fiberboard as backing, then how? Don't buy wood-related stuff ah? Buy stainless steel furnitures? Like that, cannot get anything already n we will just put things on the floor, sit n do things on the floor to be safe. Still die in the end anyway. Ayo... I regret digging into this health conscious matter.

Granite Emitting Radiation

New information about possible hazards of granite and stone countertops. Recent article in NYT told of countertops of granite emmiting unacceptable levels of radiation. "Allegations that granite countertops may emit dangerous levels of radon and radiation have been raised periodically over the past decade, mostly by makers and distributors of competing countertop materials. The Marble Institute of America has said such claims are “ludicrous” because although granite is known to contain uranium and other radioactive materials like thorium and potassium, the amounts in countertops are not enough to pose a health threat.

Health physicists and radiation experts agree that most granite countertops emit radiation and radon at extremely low levels. They say these emissions are insignificant compared with so-called background radiation that is constantly raining down from outer space or seeping up from the earth’s crust, not to mention emanating from manmade sources like X-rays, luminous watches and smoke detectors.

But with increasing regularity in recent months, the Environmental Protection Agency has been receiving calls from radon inspectors as well as from concerned homeowners about granite countertops with radiation measurements several times above background levels. “We’ve been hearing from people all over the country concerned about high readings,” said Lou Witt, a program analyst with the agency’s Indoor Environments Division.

The E.P.A. recommends taking action if radon gas levels in the home exceeds 4 picocuries per liter of air (a measure of radioactive emission); about the same risk for cancer as smoking a half a pack of cigarettes per day."

Something to consider when chosing a counter top material...

Okie, good news is now we are down to two contractors to choose. One is Sam @ S.A.I.D pte ltd. One is a relative of my hubby's boss. This weekend we will have to decide on one of them.

Good thing that we don't have many carpentry work n no electrical wiring.

Bad news: I also paid deposit @ heritage bathroom for hob n hood, hobz brand. Now I want to change to rinnai hob n fujioh hood. Can or not? Hix...

Panasonic inverter aircon any rattling issue? Is it worth to top up $200 for starmex? Put it on top of window any leaking air problem? Cos it look nicer if put on top of window.

Hallo dean, I haven't tried the aircon installation. Can't give you comment. Gain city salesperson said the only good point ant starmex is: quietness. You don't mind noise, then save your money loh.

yup, you have to apply for it but your ID should do it on your behalf. Cos the permit need the name of the ID company and it must be HDB approved contractor lah.....
