Sze Hui 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 Really? How was the hidden bed? Is it from hidden wall bed company? Still good after a few years? I tried lifting up n down @ expo exhibition, seem okie, heavy but okie.I didn't ask him. But he only use it when he has guest. If its for your daily usage, then i would think that its maybe abit impractical.
May_dream1 14 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 30% cheaper is already a lot of money huh? Can buy me other stuff like bathroom accessories.. That's why my husband n I start to re-consider hoffen kitchen. Haahaha... For bathroom, we only want to replace the vanity top n install mirror n probably a top cabinet. Will not overlay tiles to save cost. But to replacing the vanity top also costs money... Which we need to think carefully. Will see the quote first. The new sink which we saw at heritage bathroom is around $320. Ceramic sink. Really? How was the hidden bed? Is it from hidden wall bed company? Still good after a few years? I tried lifting up n down @ expo exhibition, seem okie, heavy but okie.Yup, 30% is a lot too.... So it's better to reconsidered lah. If you use good laminate, then the kitchen would look good too. I slept in those hidden bed before. Very scary..... I think it's not worth doing if it's just for guests. Might cost too much for seldom usage and you might need to renovate again when your child are older.
pinkwhale 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2012 Hi piknik, my mitsubishi inverter system 3 also cost me 3.3k with all the upgrading. You also intend to build concrete kitchen counter.. Hehe only for the sink area or all the counters like mine? Hehe what tiles u planning to use? For study room cum guest room if u plan to outsource to other company to do that hidden bed system maybe u can take yr time to source ba. Can do at later stage if not very shiong to do all at the same time. Ask ur guest to sleep on temporary mattress first ba..

But the countertop is actually solid surface still. Look like normal kitchen you usually see around here. Only when I opened the door and reached inside to feel, i knew its concrete, not wood based. Feel very sturdy. I like the idea... My theme is not industrial although both me n husband love it, it is just not right for our home, that's all. My my, what did u pay for the upgrading? I saw at gain city, mitsubishi system 3 is 2.8K/+ , upgrading the insulation pipe cost $80.. Less than 3K in total right? But I didn't ask if there is anything else to upgrade to ensure the good performance. until now still quite blur abt it.. I am still at shock after hearing the number 3.3K. Haiz.... For study cum guest room, I haven't found one to outsource the work station with hidden bed system yet. Cos the material n chemicals involved in the production for this hidden bed is usually solid MDF and it causes cancer!! So, thinking about it while finding a better/easy to achieve solution (like getting a sofa bed n a work station seperately).

The hiddenbed with work station look good for a small room, tiny space area. That's why it's attractive. But I am not too keen now as further reading abt the chemical used for the main material leads to cancer. So, unless I wanna pay for real solid wood, I would not buying it. How to choose a good laminate? I want a white kitchen. And such color is quite standard right? I saw EDL catalogue, they have more tones of white than other brands. gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 concrete sink support with tiles is a nightmare to maintain. Thought about the process of scrubbing groutlines?the worst thing is when one of the tiles crack...you can always outsource your aircon contract, there is one renotalk guy who got good reviews. Otherwise, getting from distributors are fine as well. Do you believe in "good after sales service" by contractors? I believe that for most cases, its probably lip service. The odds are often not tilted in your favour...what is the ugly vanity counter that would cost thousands to revamp? got picture? i doubt it cost so much to make a vanity counter using solid surface wor? It can be system 3 at 2.8k but all 3 are 9k btu. Mine at 3.2k incl steel bracket for 18k+12k+9k plus better piping etc. so cannot say all system 3 are the same. Not comparing apple with apple. piknik 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 My much-hated bathroom vanity top (excuse the bags)How I wish its color is as light as in the picture. In reality, it's the grey of this below photo's background:credit: FlickrOf course I was over exaggerating abt the cost of beautifying the master bathroom. "shy".I consider using a simple sink and a cheap solid surface top, with a small top cabinet at the corner, and a big mirror. Saw "Hollywood" styled lighting @ ikea n one contractor suggested a hidden light below n on top of the mirror. But I dislike both ideas. To me, it's not practical... Too bright for my eyes or just not enough light.. Budget for this bathroom: less than 1K? (include cost of removing the vanity top n touch up)
cleong 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 Depending on whether you're wanting a rainshower and good taps and such, a bathroom set from Grohe or Hansgrohe can set you back half of your $1000 budget already, unless you're intending to keep those items? If you're retaining the standard fixtures I think you should be ok. If you look at hotel-style bathrooms, they tend to use warm lighting, marble walls, chrome and glass. piknik 1 Report post Posted February 7, 2012 My husband wants the grohe bathroom set, can't remember if it comes with rain shower. But we intended to go for city gas water heater so dont know if it's wise to buy the rain shower thing. We stay at 8th floor, I am afraid of the low pressure for water. Haven't found time to visit city gas showroom yet. Since I was pregnant with my daughter until now, I haven't gone to orchard area yet.
