getzski 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 Finally i had a chance to do something to my metal gate at my recess area. It was a rusty brown gate. To replace it would set me back by 4 figures, but i would rather use this money for my new amplifier. some newspaper covering to kickstart the mini project. and while i was at it, i re-paint my shoe rack to the wall color. it is a nice $20 DIY, took only a couple of hours over 2 nights. the gate does not look like a new gate btw, but it looks a nicely restored one. an added benefit was that i knew a couple of new neighbors as well when they came over and chit chat. ayazumi 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 Wow... painting door gate is not easy. It took me one full day to complete the painting for my parents' door gate.
getzski 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2012 the right metal paint(the one that bites immediately into your metal) and the right brush size(big enough to lessen your brushing strokes, but small enough to squeeze into the grille holes) helps in shortening the effort. getzski 1 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 this thing is very noisy.....when the water is not running at full strength. but the woman in the house would like this shower function, when water comes at you at a horizontal plane, via the 6 mini nozzles...so their hair stays dry. albertchng 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2012 yes it does. it is just the basic track and hinges though. does not include any fancy baskets, wire baskets, corner unit and accessories. every bottom shelves are drawers, and no fancy top-mounted blum accessories. those are the really expensive stuff. a single blum shelf unit is already 500+. oh...and i did not get the blum myself. got contractor to put that in the quotation, and then he instructed the carpenters to add that in. all my carpentry is done in factory in JB, so i guess that is why my contractor managed to do this. but i think his margin is marginal on this kitchen shelves. the trick is to create bigger shelves(wider or deeper, or both), so you can minimized on the tracks. The heavy duty tracks cost more, but i think it makes more sense. hinges are not so bad as they are fairly inexpensive.Blum is really expensive... i have 2 top cabinet (400mm X 1800mm) using Servo-Drive for Aventos HK cost me $2000. And i have all Blum hinges and drawers in kitchen cabinet, Walk in Wardrobe, 10 feet shoe cabinet and 10 feet storage unit. Quotation coming soon, will share with all how much is my carpentry work. getzski 1 Report post Posted March 12, 2012 I learnt a lot from other seniors who share their planning of electrical and aircon trunking. and i felt it is right to share my own personal experiece too. my first constraint is the one imposed by HDB. The first compressor needs to be located in the MBR window ledge area. (p.s. HDB allows me to have total of up 4 aircon compressor locations)The MBR(now bedroom3m aka BR3) will be the room that aircon trunking is most visible, and very difficult to hide since i have 4 blowers, and hence i change the MBR into a spare room. (also due to FengShui reason as well). The red pipes will run on both left and right side of the rooms. -- See Pic1The trunking on the left of the picture (pic1) will be used to supply one aircon blower in the living room. The water outlet shares the same trunking. -- see pic2The trunking on the right will go into this "interchange". due to the beams, small trunking portions will be exposed. the good thing is that it is located at the door opening area, so they are no so visible. The trunking on the right comes from the BR3 and thru some partition wall, and it goes up the false ceiling. then it re-appears on the left. one trunking is for the MBR and BR2, and the other one runs out to supply the remaining living room blower. -- see pic3MBR aircon blower. Joined back to back with the other room blower so that i can cut down on trunking. No trunking is seen at these 2 bedrooms. -- see pic4 and pic5The last trunking will exposed a little before it goes into the false ceiling again, before it gets connected to the last blower. Other than these 2, no trunking is visible as well in the living area, except for a 50cm stretch near the balcony area for water outlet. -- see pic6 and pic7

getzski 1 Report post Posted March 14, 2012 i was at ikea last week, and i found my dream coffee table.....the ULLSTORP coffee table. But i already had an existing one from Lifestorey, so what can i do with it? sell it? put it in the bedroom? i decided to goof around and throw it into the balcony. hmm....it looks promising there, and i tried throwing both my dining chairs into the mix, and voila.....balcony prototype #1what do you think about this look? any comments/suggestions are all welcomed.
