Journey Towards Our New Home

Recommended Posts

Lol. Guess you have a clear idea of how they will turn out. Got pictures to see (maybe can steal some ideas)? All the best for your renovation!

I had vague ideas. Wanted white cos I retained the brown tiles in the living room and white looks "bigger". Forgot to take photos of the furniture when I bought it.

All the best to yours too!!! Mine only starting on 15 Feb.

Day 2 of renovation:

The workers cleaned up the place quite well. I was pretty amazed because I've seen worse jobs.

Now the workers are taking their break for the chinese new year. Updates will only be after that.

Hihi,

Can share roughly how much did they (Lina and A) quote you for the renovation?

Can you also PM me "A" contact?

Thanks in advance. Happy Chinese New Year! :)

We actually went through quite a number of contractors without realising it. The search started probably a month ago.

The fifth was Lina from Home Sweet Home Renovation Works. The first female contractor we met and also the only who sort of understood why my fiancee wanted the additional wall between the master bedroom and the other room. Somehow, that sealed the deal as after that, it was mainly sorting out the final detailed quotation with her. Quite straightforward as well though she can be a bit careless and needed quite a few reminders on the quotation side. She had the most sincerity in wanting our business for she offered to view our flat without obligations so as to give an accurate quote. And even though we did not confirmed with her and we had quite a number of changes, she treated us without lesser amount of sincerity and she also brought us to see her client's place so that we were assured of her workers' workmanship.

The seventh was A. He was also very sincere and he was the first to send us his quotation. He was the second to call back to follow up and his pricing is very competitive as well. Too bad we met him after Lina. I guess his luck was bad. I would recommend him though.

Day 3 of renovation:

The workers started work again after their CNY break and they did mostly plastering of the walls. Quite friendly and nice to talk to. They even helped me to remove the chin-up bar from the entrance of the MBR toilet.

Day 4 of renovation:

They touched on the plastering and they started to put up the wall tiles. It was then that I realise that my camera was low batt and could not take any pictures. Stupid me.

Day 5 of renovation:

The wall tiles are almost done. They also did the kitchen base. Quite nicely done I think.

Day 6 of renovation:

Progress was much slower, probably because it was a Saturday. They did up the drop at the floor in the MBR toilet. They also patched up edges of the walls at the entrance to the kitchen and the beam in the kitchen.
