SS21 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2011 Hi there,Been looking through renotalk for quite sometime and hope someone can help me out on this. What's does looping mean?Is it 2 lights will on within 1 switch? Also understand that there's a few thickness wire for the electrical. which wire is for which one?1. 1.5mm - Lighting2. 2-2.5mm - power socket3. 5mm - air-con Also for connecting a new switch for a lighting point meaning i need 2 1.5mm to connect them from the main power point then link to the lighting then link to a switch.Am i right to say that? Also how can one conceal the main point after shifting from the main point to the second point? (sealed and patch up the holes? But there will be trucking right from the main source since it's start from there?)I know this is very 'on hands' topic..but just want to know more how electrical really works. Appreciate anyone able to enlighten me on this?
travelpac 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2011 Don't know what does looping means. But you can link 1 switch with 2 lights.Thickness of the cable is dependent on the load. The thicker the cable, the more loads it can carry. But the thicker the cable, the more expensive your wiring costs is. So what you have listed is a general guide. If you got money you can lay all 5mmsq If you want. The main source is connected to the switch. The switch is connected to the light. And from this light to any other lights. You cover the cables in trunking or conceal it.
ben263 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2011 Let's do this step by stepHi there,Been looking through renotalk for quite sometime and hope someone can help me out on this. What's does looping mean?Is it 2 lights will on within 1 switch? YesAlso understand that there's a few thickness wire for the electrical. which wire is for which one?1. 1.5mm - Lighting - Correct2. 2-2.5mm - power socket - Correct3. 5mm - air-con - CorrectAlso for connecting a new switch for a lighting point meaning i need 2 1.5mm to connect them from the main power point then link to the lighting then link to a switch.Am i right to say that? Main live to switch /fixture light to switch / neutral direct into fixture / earth onto any metal part of the fixtureAlso how can one conceal the main point after shifting from the main point to the second point? (sealed and patch up the holes? But there will be trucking right from the main source since it's start from there?)to conceal is easy - tear down the useless casings and putty with stopping... just go to any hardware stall and ask for stopping....I know this is very 'on hands' topic..but just want to know more how electrical really works. Appreciate anyone able to enlighten me on this?
