Blinds Vs Curtains

Recommended Posts

I am currently looking at both blinds and curtains, but still undecided. Can anyone advice if it is better to go with blinds or curtains.

I quite like the blinds that I saw but curtains do bring out the elegance and sophistication.

Your comments will be most helpful.

Blinds are a bit of the "harder" look... okay with small rooms/work rooms...

Curtains are traditional but also "softer" look... can really dress up a place... like a living room.

Anyone got good recommendations on curtains/blinds?

hmm i personally used curtains day and night for my MBR, the rest of the house i used roller blinds (light grey colour) i think eventually depends on the feel u want.

living room we use plain day curtains.. and balcony we use outdoor roller blind so the space becomes more usable ;)

hi wewiretheworld,

so you are suggesting that we look at combining both curtains and blinds as an option? :dribble::dribble::dribble:

certainly a suggestion worth considering.

what are the few places/companies you suggest we should go looking for the curtains and blinds? I have been to the ones at Northstar and Joo Chiat.

After rushing through the weekend, we are now leaning towards the blinds as they can offered easy maintenace as well as giving good complement to the design of the house.

There are quite a nice selection of fabrice and design on blinds, much to my surprise.

Personally, I feel that blinds are better for controlling the sunlight. Wooden blinds and shutters can also add to the aethetics of a house (google: plantation shutters). On the contrary, Curtains can help soften the feel of the room. If you have the budget, why not use the 2?

In my honest opinion, if you are looking into blinds, its better to get better quality ones. The cheap ones has reliability issues with the mechanism, so if you should draw up & down pretty often, it will spoil very fast.

Hi Guys

Sorry for the lack of feedbacks, been travelling and now back.

Totally agreed with you on quality mechanism and fabrice for the blinds.

I am leaning towards the blinds plus wall paper on one side of the wall closer to the blinds.

Beautiful.
