Checking For Carpentry Defects

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

just wish to check anyone face carpentry defects like scratches, chips, dents?

And how did your contractor/ID rectify?

Change the laminate or just use white sticker or white paint to cover?

For mine, some were being covered up by white paint but i find it too obvious and ugly so personally i can't accept.

And also the generally do they laminate the underside of the drawer? For mine some have and some do not.

So i was wondering...

Hi CalvaryCarpentry,

thanks for the info!

Dear Wobuyao,

For serious Defects on laminates it is recommended that you change the entire sheet. For solid wood you can sand and recoat but unfortunately not for laminates.

as for the drawer, it is not an industry practice to laminated the underside especially if the drawers are located below waist length(visibilty)

Hi Wobuyao

I understand your concerns as I am facing the same issue too. My carpentry works are terrible. :furious: Paints, markers, stickers and putty are used to conceal the obvious scratches, dents, chips, jagged sides and holes.

I just checked the underside of the drawers. Mine do not have any lamination on the underside.

Hmmm I am wondering if you are willing to reveal your carpenter details? Perhaps we share the same carpenter? :notti:

Get your contractor to CHANGE. I will if mine has defects. *touch wood* If you don't, you will have to live with it til you sell your apt.
