Prevention is better than the cure in this instance.
Summertmc 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2012 Hi, anybody heard before "Pearly Leather Sofa"? As claim by the salesman, it is a real leather by means of recycling. Just wonder is this kind of leather durable?
Daveyap 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2012 Hi, anybody heard before "Pearly Leather Sofa"? As claim by the salesman, it is a real leather by means of recycling. Just wonder is this kind of leather durable?Real Leather by means of recycling means it is actually Bonded Leather. This leather which is made from leather scraps is durable for about 2 years Only. It does gives new meaning to the meaning of Durable/durability.

In term of crack, peeling, color fading etc? Btw, do you know any real leather that have glossy finishing? Do you know which furniture shop in Spore have this kind of glossy finishing leather sofa?Bonded leather usually fails when the surface starts to develop tiny tears that spread gradually. If you want real leather that is glossy, you can try making enquiries with this leather hide merchant at http://www.alltrends.com.sg/Leather-for-Shoes--and--Leathergoods.php OR this leather furniture re upholsterer at http://shop.apex5.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=34 There are many furniture shops that sell glossy finishing leather sofas but they are mainly PU leathers which are even worse than Bonded leather. nickguthe 30 Report post Posted June 9, 2013 Hi,I was told by a furniture shop person that one way to tell if genuine leather is used is to press the leather and observe the crease around the depression. If the creases around the finger is along the grain lines (see picture below), then it is genuine leather. If the crease does not form along the grain, then it is PU leather. Can anyone verify if this test is reliable? KSP 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2016 My 4 year old sofa where the supposed real leather part is flaking. The bits that had fallen off feels rubbery. Is this considered leather or PU or Bi-cast? http://imageshack.com/a/img922/650/YWn0RN.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img924/1086/2SzdZb.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img922/8343/hB2ZX6.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img923/812/eqgkzM.jpghttp://imageshack.com/a/img922/6454/gh0Otc.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/2737/N3QIlH.jpg

Can anyone verify if this test is reliable? the test is quite reliable with the following statement taken from the web. It also tell how to identify botox-injected face. REAL LEATHER WRINKLES Try to press or pinch the leather. Real leather should wrinkle and the texture should look “pulled” when you put a dent on it. Fake leather should be less flexible, and you’d probably notice the texture is hardly affected by your pressure. Botox-injected faces won’t wrinkle naturally when they smile. Wrinkles appear when pressed = Genuine Leather No wrinkle = Faux Leather
