Sequence Of Renovation

Recommended Posts

Hi

need some advice from the experts here.

If I am arranging for different contractors to do the renovation (not using ID), what sequence should I follow?

painting - installation of feature wall - laying bay window top - decking - wall paper - lights - varnishing.

Is this ok?

Probably do all the construction work first as this is most "messy". So a better sequence is from heavy-duty to light-duty work:

installation of feature wall - laying bay window top - decking - painting - wall paper - lights - varnishing

Our sequence was:

Hacking wall & kitchen + toilet flooring

Plumbing works

Windows

Kitchen & toilet floor tiles ( + Waterproof layer)

Electrical re-wiring (Lighting, TV cable, network, Telephone & air con cabling)

Air con installation

L-box for hiding cabling & trunking

Plastering + Painting whole house

Acid Wash

Kitchen cabinet & wardrobes installation

Install lighting

Doors

Heavy / wet works, or dirty work first.

Varnishing is normally oil based, so water based paint drop on it can easily clean up. Varnish drop on paint is game over.

Wall paper must be last, because any defect is not repair, but replace.

Decking may be dusty due to sawing + sawdust. If lights already in. imagine cleaning the chandelier.
