collins 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2011 Osram & Philips LED lights are also made in China. In fact, the quality control, component grade and design are more important factors to consider. A good LED light is often made using high performance LED chip from reputable chip maker such as CREE, Seoul, Epistar, Sharp, Philips or OSRAM , housed in a well-finished casing with reliable power supply. They should go through a stringent 72 hr aging test running at 60 deg C in an oven prior to shipping. The LED chip constituents up to 70% of the cost of a LED light. A LED light can be assembled in a family backyard or a modern factory, but the difference lies in proper quality control, inspection equipment, high quality materials and trained assembly workers which all cost money. During a factory visit to one of our suppliers, i saw thousands of Philips LED bulbs being manufactured there as subcontracted by Philips. so sometimes the question is how it is made rather than where it is made. collins 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2011 so should we get full stainless steel, half stainless steel or just cast iron will do?aluminium is better. ferrous material is too heavy for the false ceiling and might rust in the long run.
